Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Senior Structures Engineer to join the Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) Fan Blades and Static Hardware team within Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO). In this role, you will support commercial and military engine production by leading structural assessments, resolving technical and quality challenges, improving hardware producibility, and mentoring internal and outsourced engineers to meet delivery and engineering performance targets.
What You Will Do:
- Lead production support activities, including critical quality issues, supplier transitions, Class II engineering changes, and proactive producibility improvements to support delivery targets.
- Perform structural assessments using hand calculations, finite element modeling, engineering standard work, analytical tools, and sound engineering judgment with minimal oversight.
- Provide technical mentorship and review structural analyses to strengthen team capabilities and promote engineering safety and best practices.
- Oversee outsourced engineering teams and review deliverables to ensure technical quality, accuracy, and compliance with engineering requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement and strategic engineering initiatives to enhance cold-section hardware producibility, team performance, and alignment with ESTO values.
Travel Requirement: Up to 10% – domestic and international travel.

- Structural engineering practices for commercial and military engine compression systems and cold-section hardware.

- Producibility improvement, engineering standard work, and continuous improvement within ESTO.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5 years of relevant engineering experience, or an advanced engineering degree with 3 years of relevant engineering experience. Relevant experience demonstrating engineering analysis and problem-solving capabilities applicable to structural assessments and production support.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering, with advanced technical expertise.
- Extensive manufacturing-focused engineering experience in the aerospace or mechanical industry.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in ANSYS or equivalent finite element analysis tools.
- Knowledge of fatigue and fracture mechanics.
- Proficiency with Pratt & Whitney proprietary tools and Engineering Knowledge Systems.

Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO): ESTO provides dedicated support by eliminating quality notifications, escapes, works stops and enabling producibility and delivery of legacy and new parts, assemblies, modules, and engines. ESTO covers all engine programs and part families, enabling engine deliveries, first piece reviews, first article inspections, analysis automation, process certification. ESTO also supports the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) initiative in Operations. Technical disciplines in ESTO include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, and Manufacturing Engineering.
Compression Systems Engineering (CSE): Compression Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, development, and in service support of all fans low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products. Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, and Product Definition. Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering executes both military and commercial repair design and repairs substantiations for engines. We create and improve ASE business and repair development tools. We design, develop, and qualify military repair tooling.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
