Honeywell Aerospace is seeking a Senior Technical Project Engineer – Avionics Systems to lead the planning and execution of engineering programs within our Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) organization.
In this role, you will partner with engineering, program management, certification, and customer teams to deliver FAA-certified avionics systems that support safe and reliable flight operations. You will be responsible for driving project execution, managing technical and program risks, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
Reporting directly to the Director of Project Engineering, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of avionics products used throughout the global aerospace industry while collaborating with teams across North America, Europe, and Asia.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams through the planning and execution of avionics development programs.
- Define project scope, objectives, schedules, deliverables, and resource requirements.
- Develop and maintain project plans using Microsoft Project.
- Serve as the primary technical interface for customers, program managers, and key stakeholders.
- Support teams in resolving technical and program execution challenges.
Program Execution
- Monitor project performance against schedule, budget, and technical objectives.
- Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to evaluate project health and performance.
- Lead risk identification, mitigation planning, and issue resolution activities.
- Manage project scope and baseline changes throughout the program lifecycle.
- Coordinate activities across engineering, certification, manufacturing, and business functions.
Customer and Business Engagement
- Lead proposal development, statement of work creation, and cost-estimating activities.
- Provide project status updates to leadership, customers, and stakeholders.
- Build strong working relationships with customers, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
- Identify and implement process improvements that strengthen project execution.
About the CNS Organization
The Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) organization develops and supports a broad portfolio of avionics products, including:
- Weather Radar Systems
- Ground Proximity Warning Systems
- Instrument Landing Systems
- Communication and Datalink Radios
- Navigation Radios
- Transponders
- Traffic Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS)
- Radar Altimeters
Our global engineering teams are located in Arizona, Minnesota, India, the Czech Republic, and China, working together to develop, certify, and sustain products that are relied upon by operators around the world.
MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace systems project engineering.
WE VALUE
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Experience supporting aviation certification activities.
- Experience leading Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities.
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Experience working in a global engineering environment.
