Software Engineer

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to join as the second engineer at an early-stage biotech company digitizing the immune system to power clinical trials for major drug developers. You will have broad ownership across the full product, working at the intersection of software engineering, data science, and laboratory science where your code directly impacts high-stakes clinical research.

What You'll Do

• Build full-stack features across the product, including customer-facing trial dashboards and real-time sample notifications.

• Implement machine learning techniques for automated boundary detection of cancer cells in cytometry data.

• Upgrade and maintain data visualization pipelines used in clinical trial workflows.

• Automate lab workflows spanning sample preparation through data analysis.

• Communicate directly with scientists and clients to inform product development with a customer-facing mindset.

What We're Looking For

• A track record of shipping production-grade software, demonstrated through a portfolio, open-source contributions, or shipped product features.

• Quantifiable, measurable accomplishments in previous roles (e.g., "improved X from Y to Z").

• Proficiency in Python for backend development and React/TypeScript for frontend development.

• Experience applying machine learning techniques to data analysis, particularly boundary detection in cytometry or similar scientific data.

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including deploying scalable services.

• Background in a modern technology stack; candidates working primarily in C# may not be a strong fit for this role.

• No minimum years of experience required; engineering ability and evidence of impact matter most.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $90,000 to $185,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

This role is fully on-site, five days per week, based in Salt Lake City, Utah (a secondary office is also available in San Mateo, California).
