Software Verification Engineer
Location: Delft, Netherlands | Hybrid – 2 days per week on-site
Salary: Up to €90,000 per annum
(Visa sponsorship is offered for candidates who are already based in the Netherlands)
We are looking for a Software Verification & Modelling Engineer to join an innovative deep-tech engineering team developing advanced technology at the intersection of software, signal processing and hardware.
This role will focus on developing and validating software models, building automated verification frameworks, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of complex algorithms and software implementations.
You will work closely with software and hardware engineers to compare implementation outputs against trusted reference models, investigate numerical discrepancies, and improve the robustness of verification processes across the development lifecycle.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong C++ programming skills, a background in mathematical modelling or digital signal processing, and a passion for software quality, numerical accuracy and automated testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and debug software verification frameworks using C++ and Python.
- Build and validate mathematical and behavioural reference models to verify software implementations.
- Perform golden-reference comparisons and numerical error analysis to identify discrepancies and ensure implementation accuracy.
- Design and maintain automated testing frameworks and continuous integration (CI) regression tests.
- Analyse algorithm behaviour, numerical precision and error propagation across complex processing chains.
- Investigate fixed-point arithmetic, quantisation effects and numerical accuracy where applicable.
- Develop reference models using Python libraries such as NumPy and SciPy, or MATLAB/Simulink.
- Implement testing strategies incorporating property-based testing, randomised test cases and automated regression analysis.
- Collaborate with software, FPGA and hardware engineers to validate models and investigate system-level issues.
- Contribute to the development of reliable, maintainable and scalable verification processes.
Requirements
- Strong C++ programming and debugging skills.
- Professional experience in software testing, verification or test automation.
- A solid understanding of digital signal processing (DSP), mathematical modelling or numerical methods.
- Experience with reference models, numerical comparisons, algorithm validation or numerical error analysis.
- Proficiency in Python for verification, testing or automation.
- Experience developing or maintaining automated tests and CI regression pipelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex technical issues.
- A relevant degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics or a related technical discipline.
Desirable Experience
- Developing reference models using MATLAB/Simulink, NumPy or SciPy.
- Fixed-point arithmetic, quantisation analysis and numerical precision.
- Stateful DSP processing chains, including numerically controlled oscillators (NCOs), mixers and filters.
- Property-based testing and randomised verification techniques.
- FPGA or ASIC verification and digital hardware development.
- Hardware/software co-simulation, SystemC or cycle-accurate modelling.
- Validating software models against measurements from physical hardware.
