The Role
Applications of interest are invited from staff currently on protected pay for the position of Community Mental Health Nurse Specialist (Band 6) within the Inverclyde Adult Community Mental Health Team. This is an integrated, multi-disciplinary service providing assessment, treatment and support to individuals with complex mental health needs, as well as their families and carers, throughout Inverclyde.
You will manage your own caseload, undertake the role of Care Manager for CPA-registered cases, and lead the facilitation of the Physical Health and Wellbeing Clinic, including responsibility for associated governance requirements. The post holder will maintain high clinical and professional standards, provide leadership and supervision to junior staff, and contribute to ongoing service development and quality improvement initiatives. There may also be opportunities to support or rotate into the Community Response Service, which provides urgent mental health assessment and intervention.
All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
You will be responsible for the assessment, care planning and management of individuals with complex mental health needs within a community setting. The role includes acting as Care Manager for CPA-registered service users, leading the delivery of the Physical Health and Wellbeing Clinic, maintaining robust clinical governance standards, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure high-quality, person-centred care.
You will provide professional leadership and supervision to junior staff, contribute to the development and implementation of service improvements, and support the delivery of evidence-based practice in line with professional, organisational and national standards.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
- Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Significant experience working within a community mental health setting.
- In possession of, currently undertaking, or willing to work towards a recordable qualification relevant to the post (e.g. BA, BSc or Diploma).
- Excellent assessment, risk management and care planning skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills.
- Demonstrable experience of working with individuals who have complex mental health needs, particularly psychosis and substance misuse co-morbidity.
- Knowledge of current evidence-based practice and effective models of care in community mental health services.
- Understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement processes.
- Sound understanding of leadership principles and staff supervision.
- Commitment to continuing professional development and service improvement.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
