We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated part-time 28 hours pw Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist.

This post will be based in Exeter and East & Mid Devon and will be part of the highly supportive Exeter and East & Mid Devon S&LT Teams, delivering a community speech and language therapy service to children and young people within clinic and education settings.

Main duties of the job

The speech and language therapy service within CFHD have transformed to work within the Balanced System framework.

The Speech, Language and Communication pathway consists of Speech and Language Therapists and Therapy Assistants working across Devon and Torbay.

The aim of the team is to ensure that specialist support is easily accessible within the community settings, providing both direct support to children, young people and families, and to the wider community teams.

Everyone in the team is provided with regular supervision, opportunities for training and development.

  • To independently manage, with

access to support from more senior colleagues and the team, a caseload of children and young people in the Exeter area with developmental disorders of speech, language and communication.

  • The provision of a speech and language therapy service of assessment,

diagnosis and treatment of developmental disorders of speech, language and communication.

  • To provide appropriate intervention and evaluate outcomes.
  • To provide advice to parents and carers, early years and school staff and

other professionals on matters relating to the speech, language and communication needs of individual children and young people.

  • To set up and monitor programmes to be carried out by other key workers.
  • To write reports reflecting specialist knowledge.
