Final compensation and position level will be determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The BNSF Railway Finance Department provides innovative strategic solutions and world-class financial services to support BNSF's overall performance. Within the Finance Department, several specialized departments contribute to its overall mission: Controller, Revenue Management, Strategic Sourcing, Tax, Treasury, and Strategic Studies. This is a full-time position located in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work-life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.

The A/P Controls & Compliance team administers invoice payment authorities, performs several SOX controls related to Accounts Payable, and monitors disbursements across the company for compliance with company policies and potential recoveries.

Key responsibilities may include:

Work exceptions in the Oversight tool by reviewing the reasons an expense or invoice was flagged, assessing compliance with BNSF policy and expectations, and providing feedback to employees or vendors as needed. Oversight is a third-party tool that reviews company travel, ProCard expenses, and vendor invoices and flags potential duplicate or erroneous submissions, waste or misuse, or other anomalies for our team to further investigate.

Identify trends in the exceptions and communicate within the team and across to other teams (including Accounts Payable, Sourcing, and Compliance) to address root causes and minimize future risk.

Assist with administration of Payment Delegation of Authority requests / questions.

Perform SOX Controls related to accounts payable.

Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Basic Qualifications:

• Able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
• Minimum of one year of experience in finance-related field, as applicable
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a drive for results.
• Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with other teams.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of BNSF’s Accounts Payable, Travel & Expense processes and/or preferred procurement and payment methods (Coupa, Materials Management, QuickPay, Pay as Presented Interfaces, ProCard, Concur, etc.).
• Strong understanding of relevant company policies and rules, including Travel & Entertainment Expense, Gifts &Entertainment, and Contracts & Payments.
• Previous audit or investigative experience.
• Experience with SQL, SAP, Tableau or other analytical tools and platforms.
