Sr. Manager, External Supply Operations Lead (Secondment 12-18 Months)

WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE

In this role, you will join a team responsible for overseeing and directing supply chain management activities for multiple contract manufacturers, primarily—but not exclusively—in North America. You will collaborate with Pfizer's supply chain management teams, Brand Supply Leaders, and External Supply Operations to coordinate and support smooth, efficient processes that promote customer satisfaction and cost-effective supply. Working with supply chain planners, subject matter experts, and coaches, you will help build a strong team and advance supply chain excellence for Pfizer.

As an Operations Lead, you will serve as the primary point of contact for multiple contract manufacturing partners. You will lead matrixed teams across OPEX, GSC, Quality, GTEL, Finance, EHS, and other functions. You will drive visibility and accountability with external supply partners and, within the IMEX structure, facilitate decision-making, provide leadership updates, and ensure internal and external alignment on milestones, risks, and mitigations.

Your leadership skills and innovaive ideas will contribute to the growth of Pfizer's External Supply organization. As a subject matter expert, you will build and leverage constructive relationships across the organization to achieve divisional goals and objectives. You will help develop strategies for a portfolio of products and projects.

HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT

• Serve as the key relationship lead and oversee global supply chain management activities for multiple contract manufacturers.

• Lead matrixed teams to deploy, sustain, and enhance a data- and analytics-driven infrastructure that enables fast, accurate operations management, performance measurement, and forecasting to support operational execution within Pfizer and with customers.

• Work in a cross-functional organization, coordinating and maintaining business alignment, resolving conflicts, and ensuring consistent progress.

• Drive efficient and cost-effective supply chain processes and plans to meet market demand and meet or exceed supply performance targets.

• Develop and execute tactical plans for continuous improvement of CMO shop floor performance in the areas of product quality, environmental health and safety, sustainability, compliance, customer service and product cost.

• Communicate effectively to ensure alignment across all VSOT functions and with stakeholders globally; partner across time zones to achieve results.

• Collaborate with CMO senior leadership teams to resolve areas of conflict promptly and escalate matters to senior management when appropriate.

• Manage, track, and report VSOT performance, taking appropriate action to address shortfalls against the PGS value proposition for supply, cost, and quality.

• Be responsible for CMO (spend) budget adherence.
• Lead periodic Business Review Meetings (BRM) with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Review the status of deviations that impact or may affect product supply.

• Manage product life cycle projects, including budget reviews, schedule adherence, and exceptions.

• Ensure the commitments to the customers, regarding product supply and quality, are met or exceeded.
• Maintain awareness of potential new sourcing opportunities and identify strategic sourcing partners who share common vision/values with the Pfizer supply team.
• Develop appropriate risk management strategies to assure supply of Pfizer's requirements.

• Form, lead, and facilitate cross-functional teams, as applicable, to execute procurement processes and plans and enable supplier selection and decision-making.

• Lead continuous improvement activities related to vendor utilization practices and procedures.

• Collaborate with EHS to ensure CMO compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and Pfizer requirements.

• Champion innovation, develop and leverage resources to implement innovative ideas, processes and metrics.

• Embrace AI and digital capabilities to drive operational efficiencies.

• Ensure compliance with the legal requirements of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and other related legislation, as directed by relevant Pfizer corporate policies.
  

QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have

• Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 6+ years of experience; OR a master's degree with at least 5+ years of experience; OR a PhD with 1+ years of experience.
• Ability to influence and collaborate with peers, stakeholders, and supporting functions within a matrix organization to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence teams and drive progress toward divisional targets.

• High degree of adaptability and strong problem-solving skills in complex project environments, with demonstrated initiative, strategic thinking, and creativity.

• Exceptional skills in planning, organization, and working within matrix teams to manage project deliverables.
• Experience in developing and leading/co-leading complex projects.
  

Nice-to-Have

• Knowledge and understanding of contract manufacturing models and/or familiarity with contracts and operations at a regional or global level.

• Familiarity with industry standards for Good Manufacturing Practices in drug product manufacturing operations.
• Strategic and tactical supply chain experience.

• Experience with and knowledge of financial operations in a production environment.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

• This position will be based in North America and will be responsible for managing relationships, operations, and performance of a portfolio of Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) primarily in North America.
• The position requires 10–15% travel, primarily for full-week trips within North America.
