The Senior Reliability Engineer will lead vibration analysis, condition monitoring, and rotating equipment diagnostics across Upgrading, ore extraction, and power generation operations. This role is essential to improving equipment reliability, reducing unplanned downtime, and advancing predictive maintenance strategies for complex industrial assets. As the subject matter expert in mechanical dynamics, the successful candidate will diagnose faults in critical plant equipment and partner with maintenance, operations, reliability, and engineering teams to deliver practical, sustainable solutions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field, or CET/Red Seal certification with relevant industry experience

  • 10+ years of related industry experience, with specific expertise in rotating equipment

  • Extensive heavy industrial experience in vibration analysis, machinery diagnostics, condition monitoring, and failure analysis

  • Strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment and material handling systems, including bearings, gearboxes, couplings, shafts, motors, pumps, fans, conveyors, and crushers

  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing complex vibration issues using predictive maintenance, reliability-centered maintenance, root cause analysis, and dynamic testing methods such as laser alignment, field balancing, and modal analysis

  • Proficiency with vibration analysis software, diagnostic tools, online monitoring systems, and programs such as System 1 and Prognost

  • Ability to work effectively across operations, maintenance, engineering, and external specialists, with knowledge of relevant API, ISO, and reliability bets practices

Responsibilities:

  • Lead plant-wide vibration analysis and condition monitoring programs for critical assets across refining, mining, and material handling operations

  • Perform advanced diagnostics on rotating and dynamic equipment using vibration analysis techniques to identify faults and assess machine condition

  • Troubleshoot issues such as imbalance, misalignment, looseness, resonance, bearing and gear defects, shaft problems, structural concerns, and process-related vibration

  • Develop and optimize predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability, availability, and lifecycle performance

  • Conduct root cause failure analyses for chronic or high-impact equipment issues and recommend practical corrective actions

  • Support commissioning, startup, and performance verification of new or rebuilt equipment, including guidance on balancing, alignment, and dynamic testing

  • Review equipment design, installation, foundations, supports, and structural interactions to identify and mitigate vibration-related risks

  • Collaborate with maintenance, reliability, operations, OEMs, and contractors to prioritize actions, prepare technical reports, and support continuous improvement of condition monitoring practices

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
