About the Role

The Staff Accountant will manage day-to-day accounting activities, month-end closing, and financial reporting for our U.S. operations. This hands-on role also supports expense and payment request review, customer invoicing, accounts receivable, and financial data submissions to the corporate finance team. The ideal candidate has strong general ledger experience and can independently maintain accurate books for a U.S. business, subject to management review.

Responsibilities

  • General Accounting: Manage daily accounting entries and maintain accurate general ledger and subsidiary ledger records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, cash, prepayments, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions. Record project-related revenue, costs, and taxes based on approved accounting guidance and supporting documentation.
  • Month-End Close & Reporting: Perform bank, AP/AR, and intercompany reconciliations; prepare accruals, amortization, depreciation, foreign exchange adjustments, and other closing entries. Prepare monthly financial statements, schedules, and corporate reporting packages for review; investigate outstanding balances and discrepancies.
  • Expense Review & Payment Support: Conduct initial reviews of expense reimbursements and payment requests for documentation, accuracy, appropriate coding, and approvals. Match contracts, invoices, purchase orders, and receiving records; identify potential duplicate submissions and prepare payment documentation for authorized approval.
  • Customer Billing & Receivables: Issue customer invoices according to contractual terms and approved milestones. Maintain billing and receivables records, apply customer payments, and assist with overdue balances, invoice discrepancies, and approved credit notes.
  • Tax, Audit & ERP Support: Compile accounting records and supporting schedules for tax filings and audits; work with the Finance Manager and external tax advisers on reconciliations. Use Oracle EBS or other ERP systems while supporting corporate accounting and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Typically 3–4 years of hands-on U.S. corporate accounting experience; candidates with 2–3 years may be considered if they have independently handled a full month-end close and general ledger accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end accounting and prepare monthly financial statements—not exclusively AP, AR, or data-entry experience.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. accounting practices and coordination between local books and corporate reporting.
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese, with the ability to communicate professionally in both languages.
  • Experience in manufacturing, equipment sales, engineering projects, or U.S. subsidiaries of international companies preferred.
  • Oracle EBS experience preferred; willingness to handle both detailed transactional work and month-end reporting is essential.
