Staff Software Engineer – Host & Secure Compute Software - Ireland - EU Relocation Offered

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development of Linux-based system software for next-generation data centre and secure computing platforms.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on host-side software, drivers, system integration and performance optimisation for high-performance AI inference accelerators and secure computing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and optimise Linux user-space software, libraries and kernel-adjacent drivers using modern C++.
  • Lead development of host software stacks supporting AI inference and secure computing workloads.
  • Design and implement unit, integration and system-level testing frameworks for continuous integration environments.
  • Lead functional testing, performance validation and debugging of host software and drivers.
  • Integrate host software with Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), confidential virtual machines and software-isolated virtual machines.
  • Enable secure PCIe device assignment, SR-IOV and container- or VM-based workloads.
  • Optimise software for high-performance AI inference and low-latency workloads.
  • Lead design reviews, influence engineering standards and mentor experienced engineers.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, hypervisor, security and cloud engineering teams.
  • Support customer deployments and resolve complex system-level issues.

Required Experience

  • Typically 6+ years of relevant industry experience in system software, platform software or closely related engineering disciplines.
  • Extensive hands-on experience developing Linux-based system software in C and/or modern C++.
  • Strong Linux user-space development skills, including API design, multithreading and synchronisation.
  • Solid understanding of Linux internals, kernel concepts, drivers and system bring-up.
  • Knowledge of SoC architecture, including processor cores, caches, memory hierarchy, interconnects and I/O.
  • Experience with object-oriented design, UML and large-scale software architecture.
  • Proficiency with Git and software configuration management.
  • Ability to work at implementation level while maintaining a broader system architecture perspective.

Desirable Experience

  • Confidential computing, secure computing or Trusted Execution Environments.
  • Virtualisation technologies, including KVM, Docker, SR-IOV and confidential virtual machines.
  • Cryptographic protocols, device security and attestation mechanisms.
  • AI/ML inference optimisation and accelerator software stacks.
  • Python-based tooling, test automation and scripting.
  • C/C++ testing frameworks, such as GoogleTest (gtest).
  • PCIe 3.0 or later, Linux system administration and cloud infrastructure.
  • Middleware, communication protocols or open-source Linux kernel contributions.
  • Experience working across hardware, firmware, hypervisor and software boundaries.
