Staff Software Engineer, Distributed Systems (Core)

About the Role

Join the core backend engineering team at a Series D marketing technology SaaS company. You will build and scale the distributed systems that sync customer data, support real-time workflows, and serve customers across regions.

What You'll Do

• Own engineering projects from design through delivery, working closely with product teams and customers on scaling challenges.

• Build and optimize data syncing systems that move large volumes of customer data efficiently.

• Implement streaming capabilities for real-time data flows from webhooks, queues, and other sources.

• Identify performance bottlenecks and improve system scalability, reliability, and latency.

• Contribute to low-latency APIs and caching, and extend multi-region, multi-cloud infrastructure to support data residency needs.

What We're Looking For

• At least 6 years of experience in backend engineering and distributed systems, with senior-level ownership of critical systems.

• Experience designing, building, and scaling large backend systems through substantial growth.

• Background building event collection or streaming services that support critical production workloads.

• Strong experience with Kafka, SQL databases, Kubernetes, and Docker.

• Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and experience working close to infrastructure, including familiarity with technologies such as Spark and Flink.

• Experience building scalable data sync systems and partnering with customers and product teams.

• Strong computer science fundamentals.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range is $180,000 to $320,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is available.
