About the Role

Join a growing public-sector HR technology team as a hands-on, full-stack technical leader. You will set technical direction across product, data, and AI systems while building tools that help local governments manage their workforce.

What You'll Do

  • Own product features end to end, from data models and APIs through frontend implementation and rollout.

  • Build AI-powered experiences, including chat interfaces, LLM tool-calling integrations, and ways to present generated insights clearly to government users.

  • Lead a product pod of 2 to 4 engineers, providing technical direction and mentorship while remaining primarily hands-on.

  • Create search, filtering, and data normalization experiences that make imperfect workforce data useful and trustworthy.

  • Raise engineering quality through code reviews, architectural decisions, and pragmatic development standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Typically 7 to 10 years of software engineering experience, with strong full-stack product development skills.

  • Experience or academic background related to human resources, workforce systems, or the role's domain.

  • Familiarity with TypeScript, React, TanStack Router, Query and Start, Next.js, Node.js, Postgres, and Drizzle.

  • Experience with AI application tooling such as the Vercel AI SDK and VoltAgent, as well as Trigger.dev, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Pulumi, Sentry, and Dash0.

  • Ability to make architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and deliver user-facing features in an evolving product environment.
