On behalf of the European Space Agency, we are looking for a highly skilled STEM Inspiration Coordinator for ESA Education Office to work in ESTEC, in the Netherlands. Candidates must be eligible for a security personal clearance from an EU Member State national security administration What is expected from you: In this position you will: Design and deliver inspiration and non-formal education activities in different formats, with support-ing outreach and educational materials Coordinate the planning and delivery of STEM educational activities in orbit for instance on the international Space Station (ISS) The main activities of the STEM Inspiration include: Support the set-up, planning, design, organization, logistics, coordination and execution of the ESA STEM inspirational and non-formal education activities - in person and on-line - either organized by ESA or by/with other external partners (e.g. Space events and/or camps, hackathons, exhibitions, conferences, fairs... Define the content and coordinate the production (also with ESA’s external providers) of the relevant supporting outreach and educational materials: online media (e.g. dedicated internet, intranet or social media sections), audiovisual products (e.g. videos, webinars, etc), promotional and exhibition materials, non-formal didactics resources for the non-formal education context, activity guidelines Draft the Joint Education Plans for educational/inspirational activities around every ESA mission to the ISS, liaising with the partners and stakeholders indicated by ESA Define, plan, execute, monitor and control the execution of all formal processes required to implement in-orbit education activities, as well as the related ground activities Train educators within and outside ESA (e.g. ESEROs or other national trainers indicated by ESA) on tools and/or education protocols used during in-orbit activities, and create corresponding tutorials in appropriate formats, contribute to the organization and delivery of additional teacher/educator training modules in the areas of concern when requested Coordinate the technical set-up and in-orbit operational aspects of educational in-flight calls and other in-orbit inspirational activities with ARISS and other organizations indicated by ESA What you offer : University education in a STEM subject Additional university qualification in school-level STEM-education or secondary-level teaching qualifications in a STEM subject Experience in instructional design and state-of-the-art STEM pedagogical approaches, theoretical and practical; Specific experience in the design and development of didactic content on scientific subjects applied to secondary school curricula, the addition of primary level pedagogy/didactics qualification and/or experience is considered an asset Direct teaching experience and/or teacher training experience At least 3 years of experience of relevant professional experience in the domain Fluent in spoken and written English; Knowledge of French is an asset. Strong interest in education activities, and in the field of science and technology in general. Experience in space project management, teaching or in educational projects is a strong asset. Proven ability to effectively coordinate work contributions from several different parties, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders (ESA, the involved international partners, industry, academia, and students). Candidates will be expected to have strong organizational and reporting skills, as well as a strong proactive, self-starter and autonomous attitude.
