Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
The Strategic Planning Data Scientist supports global sales forecasting and demand management by managing data flows, consolidating information, and ensuring accuracy and consistency across all functional models for STF. This role also implements existing procedures and identifies opportunities to improve data processes and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the STF database/Kairos, including business changes, coding intelligence, and data consistency.
- Support STF objectives and deadlines, focusing on data collection, consolidation, analysis, and accuracy.
- Manage STF data population, reporting, and publishing requirements, ensuring consistency across reporting tools.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to other STF analysts.
- Conduct ad hoc analysis to support STF business requirements.
- Propose and implement data flow process improvements related to global fiber forecasting and demand management.
Experience/Education – Required
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Data Scientist in a business or commercial function.
- Advanced knowledge of data science and business intelligence tools, including Power BI, Excel, SQL, Databricks, and Kairos.
- Advanced programming knowledge, particularly Python.
- Proven ability to develop and manage complex data solutions involving large datasets.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions and international teams.
- Demonstrated mentoring skills in a business setting.
Experience/Education – Preferred
- Master’s degree in Data Science.
- Knowledge of optical fiber manufacturing and products.
- Commercial experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Microsoft Analyst certification.
- Background in business analysis or finance.

This position supports immigration sponsorship.
The range for this position is $77,234.00 - $106,197.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
