Leads the US Individual and Group Life Pricing Actuarial organization and is accountable for the development and execution of pricing strategies that drive profitable growth while maintaining disciplined risk management practices. Oversees the establishment and governance of U.S. specific pricing assumptions, including mortality and persistency. Translates emerging experience, underwriting insights, client-specific characteristics, and market developments into pricing frameworks that support informed business decisions and deliver target returns. Partners closely with Business development, Underwriting, Global Pricing and other global functions, Finance, Treaty and Risk to evaluate opportunities, assess risks, and enhance competitive positioning. Provides expert actuarial perspective to executive management on business and pricing performance, emerging trends, strategic initiatives, product innovation, and market opportunities. Leads and develops a high-performing actuarial team, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Pay Range for roles performed: $270,000 - $365,000 base salary per year. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. Job Responsibilities: Pricing Strategy,Governance Establish and execute the strategic vision for U.S. Individual and Group Life pricing, ensuring alignment with enterprise growth, profitability, and risk objectives. Provide executive oversight of all pricing activities, including assumption development, mortality analysis, client data evaluation, underwriting assessments, profit testing, and capital utilization. Approve reinsurance pricing proposals within delegated authority and ensure appropriate escalation, governance, and regulatory compliance for transactions exceeding local approval thresholds. Continuously enhance pricing methodologies, analytical frameworks, and governance processes to support data-driven decision making and sustainable profitability. Ensure pricing models, assumptions, and documentation meet internal governance standards and regulatory expectations. Transformation activities Contribute to the evolution of pricing systems, analytics capabilities and operating models promoting automation and data insights to augment pricing capabilities. Promote continuous improvement in pricing efficiency, quality and governance. Profitability and Portfolio Management Accountable for achieving portfolio profitability targets through disciplined pricing, capital management, and risk-adjusted return evaluation. Evaluate business opportunities based on pricing methodology, risk appetite, and strategic fit. Monitor and assess portfolio and pricing performance, identifying emerging trends and recommending actions to enhance profitability and optimize capital deployment. Partner with business leaders to address underperforming segments and develop remediation strategies that improve financial outcomes. Risk Management Serve as the senior actuarial authority for pricing risk management within the U.S. Life business. Establish and maintain robust risk governance frameworks to ensure appropriate assessment, monitoring, and management of pricing-related risks. Provide leadership in evaluating the financial implications of underwriting, treaty structure, mortality trends, product features, and market developments. Drive continuous improvement in risk assessment capabilities and pricing discipline across the organization. Client Leadership and Market Engagement Build and maintain trusted executive relationships with key clients and industry stakeholders. Lead the actuarial component of strategic client engagement initiatives by leveraging portfolio analytics, benchmarking, and market insights to strengthen partnerships and identify growth opportunities. Provide actuarial leadership in evaluating significant RFP opportunities, developing client-specific solutions, and enhancing competitive positioning. Partner with Sales and Account Management teams to advance strategic growth objectives and resolve complex client challenges. Product Innovation and Market Insights Evaluate emerging products, industry developments, and regulatory changes, providing strategic recommendations regarding their financial and business implications. Support new product exploration and innovation initiatives by assessing pricing feasibility, risk considerations, and profitability expectations. Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on market trends, competitive dynamics, and evolving customer needs. Cross-Functional Leadership Collaborate with Business development, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Data & Tech and Risk as well as global L&H functions to ensure alignment of pricing strategies and business objectives. Provide actuarial expertise and strategic counsel in executive discussions involving profitability, growth, product development, capital management, and risk. Represent U.S. market within the L&H Global Pricing and Underwriting leadership team and Facilitate effective communication and coordination across global and regional actuarial functions. Talent Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing actuarial team, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, inclusion, and professional excellence. Drive succession planning, talent development, and workforce planning initiatives to ensure organizational capability and long-term success. Establish performance expectations and create opportunities for professional growth within the actuarial function. Industry Leadership Represent the Company within the actuarial and insurance communities through participation in industry organizations, conferences, publications, and professional committees. Enhance the Company's market reputation by contributing thought leadership and advancing industry best practices. Requirements in experience, competency, education and qualifications Bachelor's degree in actuarial science or foreign equivalent Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and/or Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries 15+ years of progressively increasing actuarial leadership experience within life insurance and/or life reinsurance organizations. Significant experience leading pricing functions for life insurance and reinsurance products. Demonstrated success managing large, complex portfolios and driving profitable growth in a risk-managed environment. Deep knowledge of life reinsurance products, mortality analysis, capital management, and actuarial risk assessment. Expertise in U.S. statutory, GAAP, IFRS, and applicable regulatory frameworks. Proven experience leading and developing actuarial teams and influencing senior executive stakeholders. Strong client-facing capabilities with experience engaging executive-level customer leadership. Exceptional strategic thinking, business acumen, communication, and relationship management skills. Recognized leadership presence with the ability to influence outcomes, challenge assumptions constructively, and build organizational credibility.
