This is an excellent opportunity to apply your engineering background to sophisticated defense systems while developing deeper expertise in MIL-STD-882E System Safety Engineering. You'll work alongside experienced engineers across multiple disciplines to identify hazards, develop safety requirements, and help ensure safety is integrated throughout the system lifecycle. What You'll Be Doing You'll support the development and execution of one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant System Safety Programs, including: Perform MIL-STD-882 activities involving management, analysis, evaluation, and verification. Analyze engineering hardware, electrical drawings, and schematics for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety compliance. Assist with hazard identification, risk assessment, and development of effective controls. Develop concise, testable safety requirements and analyze existing requirements from a safety perspective. Review test, tactical operating, and maintenance procedures to ensure appropriate safety controls are incorporated. Collaborate with Systems, Hardware, Software, Electrical, Test, and other engineering disciplines. Work across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to eliminate hazards or develop practical mitigation strategies without compromising critical system performance. Support preparation of Safety Assessment Reports, Safety Program Briefs, and other technical documentation. Participate in technical reviews and the customer safety approval process. Interface with customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors, and other key stakeholders. Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and applicable military standards. What We're Looking For Strong candidates will have an engineering background with experience or exposure in areas such as: * System Safety Engineering or Systems Engineering * MIL-STD-882 / MIL-STD-882E * Hazard analysis and risk assessment * Electrical or hardware design analysis * Engineering drawings and schematics * Requirements development and analysis * Safety verification and validation * Aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated engineering environments * Cross-functional engineering teams Just as important, we're looking for someone who is analytical, collaborative, comfortable working within structured engineering processes, and interested in growing their System Safety expertise.
