The Opportunity

We are looking for an Application Support Engineer to join a growing technology-focused organisation in Malta.

This is a hands-on role within a customer-focused technical team, supporting business-critical applications and helping clients get the most value from their technology solutions. You’ll work across application support, SQL, business process automation, testing, troubleshooting, and solution configuration, while working closely with both technical teams and customers.

The Role

As an Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving customer applications and solutions throughout their lifecycle.

What You’ll Do

• Provide technical application support to customers in line with agreed service levels.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application-related issues.
• Escalate complex incidents when required and ensure issues are followed through to resolution.
• Configure, maintain, and upgrade applications and solutions.
• Work with SQL and databases to investigate issues, extract data, and support reporting requirements.
• Assist with application testing, including preparing and executing test cases and scenarios.
• Support User Acceptance Testing and communicate outcomes to customers and internal teams.
• Work with customers to understand business and functional requirements.
• Translate business requirements into practical application and workflow solutions.
• Maintain accurate technical and customer documentation.
• Assist with data extraction, manipulation, and presentation.
• Prepare user guides and training material and assist with end-user training.
• Work closely with senior engineers and technical specialists on solution development and improvements.
• Identify opportunities to improve application performance, processes, and customer experience.
• Build strong relationships with customers and act as a trusted technical point of contact.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and developments in application support and business process automation.

What You’ll Need

• 1–2 years of experience in application support, IT support, systems support, or a similar technical role.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computing, IT, or a related discipline.
• Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience supporting, configuring, or operating business applications.
• Understanding of application troubleshooting and incident resolution.
• An understanding of business processes and workflow automation would be highly advantageous.
• Experience with testing, UAT, or software implementation is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently.
• A willingness to learn new technologies and develop your technical expertise.
• Relevant IT certifications would be advantageous.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will be required to obtain Personnel Security Clearance in Malta.

Please note that eligibility for this clearance is subject to the relevant Maltese requirements. Candidates must either be an EU Member State national or have been residing in Malta for the past five years in order for the clearance application to be processed.
