The Business Infrastructure group at RTX BBN Technologies' Rosslyn, VA office is seeking a Systems Administrator. Our team handles all aspects of IT including, but not limited to: core network infrastructure, phone systems, lab setups, server installs and configuration, scripting, automation, and VM management. You will work mainly in our lab environments as a systems administrator as well as collaborating with colleagues in Cambridge and our other remote offices.

You will also work directly with our engineering staff, external vendors, and collaborators to solve complex and interesting problems.

The ideal candidate would have experience with system configuration/hardening (specifically to NIST 800-53 and STIG standards), applicable certifications, and some experience with classified US Government networks. You should be able to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly and effectively. Flexibility and attention to detail is essential to this teams’ success.

What You Will Do

  • Work primarily on-site at our facility in Rosslyn, VA.

  • Work with our Cyber Security team to ensure that information systems conform to customer specification (NIST and RMF requirements).

  • Work with team members to propose, design, purchase, and implement technical solutions to customer requirements.

  • Perform regular information systems maintenance with regards to software updates, hardware refreshes, licensing, and changing requirements.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in lab environments including but not limited to Active Directory, antivirus software, vulnerability assessments, or network device configuration.

  • Generate, organize and maintain IT documentation as it relates to lab environments.


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  • Ability to access U.S. only data systems.

  • Active and transferable Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

  • CompTIA Security+ CE certification or other equivalent which meets DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements.

  • Experience with several of the following tools: STIG Viewer, SCAP Compliance Checker, EvaluateSTIG, Splunk, Nessus.

  • Experience with NIST 800-53 and NIST 800-171 standards and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).

  • Experience with networking essentials including common ports & protocols, DHCP, DNS, switching/routing, firewalls, etc....

  • Experience with Windows operating systems (e.g. Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2022 and newer).

  • Experience with Linux operating systems (e.g. RedHat Enterprise, Ubuntu, etc…).

Qualifications That We Prefer

  • Experience with additional operating systems (e.g., macOS, Unix, etc…).

  • Experience setting up and managing Microsoft Active Directory environments.

  • Experience with Virtualization (e.g. VMWare vSphere, Hyper-V, etc…).

  • Cisco certification or experience with configuring and maintaining Cisco switching/routing/firewall products.

  • Relevant experience with classified U.S. Government networks.

  • Familiarity with the use of Atlassian software products (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket).

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Linux/Unix shell scripting, Python, Windows PowerShell, etc…).

  • Ability to perform system builds and upgrades, product installation and maintenance.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems.

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
