About the company
Our client is a software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own low-level infrastructure work for a cloud compute platform, taking major components from first design through production. The role centers on performance, isolation and reliability close to the hardware, working alongside senior technical leadership in a very small team.
What you'll do
- Create core runtime and compute components that keep workloads securely separated from one another.
- Take full responsibility for major platform components and carry them into production use.
- Partner with technical leadership on durable state, checkpointing and recovery features for continuously running workloads.
- Shorten startup times and tune performance along latency-sensitive code paths.
- Architect storage, scheduling and network layers able to grow across multiple data centers.
- Investigate problems, measure behavior and benchmark components under realistic load, always measuring before tuning.
- Help shape the longer-term infrastructure plan, including hardware-accelerated and on-premises capacity.
What we're looking for
- Strong grounding in operating systems internals, memory management, storage or networking at the lowest layers.
- A track record of driving an ambitious systems project from start to finish, in industry, open source or academic research.
- Public, checkable evidence of your work, such as code contributions, papers, technical articles or an active code repository.
- Hands-on exposure to virtualization, hypervisors or container runtimes.
- Working fluency in a systems language such as Rust or C.
- Signs of exceptional drive, for example competitive sport, hackathon success, competitive programming or visible technical commentary.
- A finished undergraduate degree or an equivalent demanding program, in any discipline.
Bonus points
- Background in replicated or consensus-based data stores.
- Exposure to accelerator hardware or machine learning infrastructure.
