General Summary Sensors-based technology has a wide range of applications including navigation, gaming, smart user interface, multimedia, virtual reality, and augmented reality. This challenging position offers the opportunity to work with leading edge sensor technologies embedded in smartphones, automotive, XR/AR, IoT, smartwatches as well as other consumer electronics devices. Job activities span the whole product life cycle from early R&D to commercial deployment.
The successful candidate will work on the development of software tools and user interfaces that support sensor technology research, development, and validation of workflows. The role involves designing intuitive and robust software interfaces, managing application state, and integrating frontend components with backend data processing services. The candidate will work with systems, software, and integration and test engineers in the QCT Sensors team, and will have the opportunity to contribute across a broad range of software and systems engineering activities.
Job Responsibilities Include
- Coding in MATLAB and Python, with familiarity with modern C and C++ standards, and unit testing and system testing using modern frameworks like Google Test
- Architecting and implementing software frameworks and tools following established software design patterns including Model-View-Controller, event-driven programming, and component-based architectures on a variety of platforms
- Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming in any of the following languages: C++ / MATLAB / Python / Java
- Designing and implementing data visualization interfaces and dashboards supporting engineering analysis and decision making
- Integrating frontend components with backend data processing services, managing inter-language interfaces and data exchange between tool layers
- Balancing engineering tradeoffs between performance, memory, power consumption, and computational complexity
- Using your familiarity with SOC architecture, assist in the design of SOC hardware models and related tools
- New technology demonstrations, interfacing with customers and sensor vendors, and partnering with internal and external teams
The position is technology focused and involves participation in a broad range of sensors systems engineering activities within the Sensors Technologies group Preferred Skills/Qualifications
- Experience with C++, MATLAB and Python for tool development, data processing, and UI implementation
- Familiarity with the development of compilers, interpreters, and SW toolchains
- Familiarity with hardware architectures such as CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs
- Experience with RTOS and modifying device drivers
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Detail oriented, taking a thorough and analytical approach, producing complete documentation

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field.
