About Novabook
Novabook is the future of accounting. We have a software engineering team automating day to day accounting processes, whilst we have an amazing team of the best accountants managing client relationships & delivery to create the best outcomes for clients. Our team previously founded, scaled and sold a technology company for $50M and we plan to 100x this at Novabook.
Why join us?
We are a small, rapidly growing team of 50 people at the moment (18 people in the engineering & product team, 6 people in the sales & marketing team). Our first venture together was senecalearning.com, which scaled to 12M users and a successful acquisition in 2022.
After launching in May 2024, we already have 1000+ clients, £3M ARR and are growing quickly, this is an opportunity to join the ride at an early stage. In December 2025 we raised a £7.5M seed funding round to continue our growth.
Novabook was born out of our personal experiences with the shortcomings of traditional accountancy practices while running Seneca. After dealing with inefficient software and unreliable accountancies for 8 years, we believe it's time to tackle these challenges head-on.
In addition to having built an 8-figure startup before, our founders have been named on the Forbes 30 under 30 list and Maserati 100. Our team also has experience working at Morgan Stanley, HSBC, Financial Times, and Forward Partners.
Culture
We are well-funded but the hardest period of a start-up is always the first couple of years, when the team is small, and you are heavily relied on personally. But this also exposes you to the most interesting period of a company’s lifecycle and also the period where you can learn the most & earn the most material rewards. You won’t be expected to work evenings & weekends, but you will be expected to work hard when on the job.
About the role
You'll directly support Novabook's tax offering across a portfolio of high-growth UK startups - handling VAT, EMI valuations, employment-related securities, R&D, S/EIS, transfer pricing and wider corporate tax matters as they arise.
This means managing client relationships directly, preparing transfer pricing reports, EMI valuations and S/EIS filings, preparing and reviewing R&D tax credit claims, advising on cross-border VAT as clients scale internationally, and ad hoc advisory work - restructurings, remuneration planning, employment tax.
You will be managed by the CEO and work alongside a team of Chartered Accountants. At the same time, you will work with 18 software engineers using AI to automate the day to day workflows that you & the team encounter. You will then be in charge of rolling these out to your teams & clients.
Requirements
Professional qualification (ATT and/or CTA) is advantageous, ideally with 1-3 years’ post-qualification experience but not essential.
Hands-on experience with some or all of transfer pricing, EMI valuations, S/EIS, VAT and corporate tax on both the compliance and advisory side. Strong technical capability and confidence operating in a high-growth environment is key.
About the application process
The hiring process consists of four steps:
In a final round process, we value candidates more highly if they know a little bit about our business already. In case it’s useful as a light-touch way of getting up to speed:
