About The Team Leader Role
CatholicCare NT is a not-for-profit organisation, providing social services and programs to individuals, couples, families, children, groups, schools, and agencies across the Northern Territory.
CatholicCare NT Wadeye delivers a range of services including Children and Parenting, Alcohol and Other Drugs Counselling, Financial Wellbeing, Gambling Harm Education, Men’s Behaviour Change, and NO MORE programs in the Wadeye Community and surrounding region.
These programs work together to support the social and emotional wellbeing of the Community by providing:
- Early intervention and prevention programs for at risk families to improve outcomes for children
- Harm minimisation and substance use education and counselling
- Psychoeducation and awareness programs regarding gambling harms
- Practical financial support and financial literacy education
- Support and education for people who use violence and their impacted families
- Community education and awareness campaigns to reduce family and domestic violence
About The Role
As the Team Leader, you’ll oversee a small and dedicated team and manage the delivery of support in Wadeye, with a particular focus on the Children and Parenting, AOD Counselling, and Men’s Behaviour Change programs. You will lead and mentor staff, apply your professional knowledge and support for direct client services. You will make a tangible difference to the community, through strengthening capacity and building meaningful relationships that bring lasting and positive change.
Living in Wadeye
Wadeye is the largest indigenous community in the Northern Territory and is approximately 420 km south west of Darwin in the West Daly Region (find more information HERE). The people encompass seven language groups and five traditional bands or kinship groups. In this role, you will have the privilege of working closely with Aboriginal families and the experience of immersing yourself in an amazing part of the world. This is an extraordinary opportunity to learn about yourself, other cultures and grow professionally at the same time as making a positive difference in the lives of others. What we are looking for - is this you?
- Relevant qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Men's Family Violence (or related field)
- Minimum five years' experience in relevant practice and team leadership
- Demonstrated specialist knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas: Children and Parenting, Alcohol and Other Drugs and/ or Men's Behaviour Change
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills encompassing report writing, case note writing and supervision
- Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- A valid Australian Drivers Licence (C Class)
