Introduction:
Leading Hand — Darwin
On-site, full-time | CC Pines
Lead your crew. Still get your hands dirty. Do it in Darwin.
CC Pines is looking for a Leading Hand to join our Darwin project, guiding a crew on-site while staying hands-on with the tools yourself. This is a genuine step-up role for a tradesperson ready to take on more responsibility without leaving the trade behind.
If you want to lead a crew, keep your hands-on skills sharp, and do it somewhere with a lot more sunshine than your last site, keep reading.
About Us
CC Pines is an Australian-owned, family-founded construction company with a 45-year track record of delivering complex, high-risk projects that other contractors won't touch, from embassy builds in Morocco to Defence infrastructure across the Pacific. We work with the Australian Department of Defence, DFAT, and the US Department of Defence, and we've never had a reportable safety incident. We're big enough to run world-class projects, small enough that your voice actually gets heard.
Our values, humble, hungry, smart, aren't a poster on the wall. They're how we pick our people and how we run our sites.
Why Darwin?
This role is based in Darwin, full-time, and honestly, that's one of the best parts of the job.
- Tax perks that put money back in your pocket. Darwin sits in the Zone A remote area, meaning you're eligible for the federal Zone Tax Offset, plus no NT land tax for individuals, and a stamp duty concession worth up to $18,600 if you're buying a home in the Territory.
- A genuine outdoor lifestyle. Think Mindil Beach sunsets, fishing for barra, weekend trips to Litchfield and Kakadu National Parks, and a harbourside city built for getting outside after work.
- Dry season living. Darwin's dry season (roughly May to October) delivers warm, sunny days and next to no rain, some of the best year-round outdoor conditions in Australia.
- A tight-knit, laid-back community. Darwin has a small-city feel with a big social scene, markets, festivals, and a genuine "everyone knows everyone" culture that makes settling in easy.
- Career runway. Darwin's Defence and infrastructure pipeline is booming, and this project is exactly the kind of experience that sets you up for a Foreman ticket down the track.
- Relocation support available for the right candidate, ask us about it.
Description:
Why Join CC Pines?
- A genuine leadership step for a tradesperson, with real scope to grow into a Foreman role.
- Competitive salary plus Territory living benefits, with a genuine relocation conversation on the table.
- Real career progression, we're growing, and we invest in developing our people, not just filling seats.
- A supportive, inclusive team culture where experienced tradespeople are trusted to lead, not sidelined by hierarchy.
The Role
As Leading Hand, you'll lead a small crew on-site, coordinating their day-to-day work while staying hands-on yourself. You'll be the link between the crew and the Foreman, making sure your section of the work is delivered safely, to spec, and on schedule.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading and coordinating a small crew's day-to-day work on-site
- Working hands-on alongside your crew, not just directing from the sidelines
- Organising tools, materials and daily tasks to keep the work moving
- Supporting site safety, quality and environmental standards within your crew
- Identifying issues or risks early and flagging them to the Foreman or Site Manager
- Keeping accurate records of work completed and reporting progress up the chain
- Mentoring less experienced tradespeople within your crew
Skills and Experiences:
What You Bring
- A trade qualification and solid hands-on experience, ideally 3-5+ years, with some prior experience leading or mentoring others
- Familiarity with site safety standards and a genuine commitment to a safe crew
- Good communication skills, comfortable directing a crew and reporting up to a Foreman or Site Manager
- Practical problem-solving and the ability to keep a small team on track under normal site pressures
- Current White Card and any trade-specific licences relevant to your field
Ready to Step Up in the Territory?
If you want to lead a crew, build toward a Foreman role, and swap the daily grind for Darwin sunsets, we want to hear from you.
CC Pines is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to an inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds can do their best work. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
