The Safety Basis documents are Department of Energy (DOE) approved documents that govern the operation of our nuclear facilities and failure to comply with the requirements can result in reportable occurrences and fines for the organization. Continuously improve accounting strategies and inventory tracking programs to ensure facility inventory is accurately maintained. Screen inventory transfers, forecast future inventory changes, make recommendations on acceptance of materials, and provide process knowledge to assign inventory data values to outgoing radioactive materials. Maintain records and control ledgers in accordance with stringent nuclear material accounting principles to accurately reflect the inventory on hand by number of discrete pieces, material type, material form, radioisotope, container information, and location. Serve as the facility MBAR and serve as the primary point of contact with Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMC&A) staff to oversee the MBA. Perform Physical Inventory, Inventory Reconciliation, and other NMC&A assessments. Ensure compliance with the DSA, investigate issues that arise within the facility, propose recommended implementing/corrective actions to the facility management team, and track the actions to completion.
