Technical Director / System Architect – UHF RFID

I’m partnering with a global semiconductor technology company to appoint a senior technical leader within its UHF RFID business.

This is a highly influential architecture role, responsible for helping define the technical direction and system architecture of next-generation UHF RFID technology.

The level is deliberately flexible.

It could suit an established Technical Director, Engineering Director or VP-level technical leader looking for a highly technical, hands-on architecture position.

Equally, I’m interested in speaking with exceptional Principal / Senior Principal Engineers, System Architects or RFIC leaders who have the technical depth and leadership capability to step into a broader, more strategic role.

The remit

You’ll operate across system architecture, RF/RFIC, silicon, embedded systems and product engineering, working with global engineering teams, product management and customers.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Defining system-level requirements and architecture for next-generation UHF RFID solutions

• Driving technical decisions across RF, silicon, embedded hardware and firmware

• Leading system integration, verification, validation and product qualification strategies

• Providing technical direction from early concept and architecture through to production

• Acting as a senior technical interface with key customers and external stakeholders

• Evaluating emerging technologies and competitor architectures

• Contributing to relevant industry standards and technical working groups

• Providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary, internationally distributed engineering teams

Who I’m looking for

The key requirement is genuine depth in RFID / UHF, RF systems or closely related wireless semiconductor technologies.

Relevant backgrounds could include:

• UHF RFID / RAIN RFID

• RFID reader or tag IC architecture

• RFIC / RF front-end architecture

• Analog / mixed-signal IC design

• Backscatter communication systems

• Low-power wireless systems

• ASIC / SoC architecture

• RF system architecture and characterization

• Embedded wireless product development

Importantly, this is not simply an RFID implementation or integration role. I’m particularly interested in people who have been involved in designing the underlying silicon, RF architecture or core system technology.
