The IC-design team in imec Netherlands (Eindhoven and Nijmegen) develops innovative solutions for Life Science & Health applications and for massive and heterogeneous sensor networks to connect billions of devices within the internet of things (IoT). We have built various ultra-low-power (ULP) radio ICs like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth-LE, and UWB 6-10 GHz radio tuned towards precise ranging, localization, and radar. What you will do We need you as a Technical Leader - Digital IC Design to be part of our multidisciplinary team to: 1. Take responsibility for the design of high-performance, ultra-low-power digital signal processing modules. This includes: Understand (internal and external) customer needs, challenges and requirements and translate that into solutions that you can incorporate into your designs. Propose signal processing digital architectures and contribute to the definition of the IC specification. Propose design, implementation strategies and plan the work. Manage these tasks over the duration of the project. Collaborate with system architect team, digital back-end team and embedded SW and validation as well as the other project stakeholders. Lead RTL development for ASIC and FPGA. Supervise the verification planning and activities (possibly including mixed-signal projects). 2. Define and/or propose (new) way of working to maximize the efficiency of the design process. 3. Contribute to high-quality reports and documentation. Who you are MSc or PhD in electronics engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience in ASIC design including 3 to 4 years of experience in a technical leadership role. Solid understanding of digital ASIC-design flow is required: logic synthesis, timing analysis, power estimation/simulation, logic equivalence (DFT and/or P&R is preferred). Structural way of working and ability to develop and manage activity planning is required. Experience working closely with (internal or external) stakeholders is required. Strong experience with digital circuit design in (System) Verilog is required. Experience with scripting languages like TCL, Matlab or Python is required. Experience with revisioning systems, like Git is required. Experience with digital verification is preferred: plan definition, verification methodologies, code/functional coverage, constrained random verification, verification plan execution and tracking. Knowledge of low-power and signal processing designs is preferred. Experience with Cadence IC design tools is a plus. Experience with mixed-signal interfaces, design, behavioural modelling, simulation and timing analysis is a plus. Knowledge of high-level synthesis methodologies is a plus. Knowledge of FPGA-development is a plus. Ability to take initiative and responsibility for team’s success. Thinking pro-actively, working independently and having a creative problem-solving attitude. Have broad interest across disciplines and like to embrace new challenges. Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
