The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Lead tooling, automation, and controls development for complex manufacturing programs, including equipment that handles energetic materials.
What you'll do
- Set priorities for custom fixtures, robotic work cells, and manufacturing controls.
- Direct tooling designs for large assemblies, heavy loads, and hazardous material handling.
- Lead and mentor tooling engineers and allocate work against production needs.
- Coordinate equipment layout, safety, loading, and scalability with engineering and facilities teams.
- Own projects from concept through commissioning, including suppliers, capital equipment, and PLC/HMI/SCADA systems.
What we're looking for
- 8 to 15 years of relevant tooling, automation, or manufacturing engineering experience.
- At least 2 to 3 years leading or directing an engineering team.
- Hands-on experience designing and building large custom fixtures and automated or robotic systems.
- Knowledge of safety-critical tooling for heavy loads or hazardous materials.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
- Ability to meet the employer's stated ITAR eligibility requirement: U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Bonus points
- Experience starting a tooling program or production line.
- Industrial automation and robotics platform experience.
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: USD 200,000 to 230,000 per year.
- Equity: Competitive equity.
- The source also lists total compensation of USD300,000 to USD350,000 including equity; this is not additional cash salary.

Location and work model
