Job Title: Vice Principal (Primary) Location: St. Ignatius Catholic School, George Town, Cayman Islands Start Date: August 2026 About Us: St. Ignatius Catholic School is a private, co-educational institution owned and operated by St. Ignatius Catholic Church as an Apostolic Ministry. The school has a very good reputation within the local community. With over 750 students and nearly 100 staff members from diverse nationalities, ethnicities, and beliefs, we pride ourselves on our outstanding academic excellence and strong Christian values. We follow the English National Curriculum from Nursery to Year 13, fostering an environment of mutual respect, generosity, and service. Following an inspection by a team of local and international inspectors in November 2024, St. Ignatius Catholic School was judged to be ‘Excellent’ by the Cayman Islands Office of Education Standards. Position Overview: The Vice Principal (Primary) functions as the strategic and academic leader of the Primary School (Nursery to Year 6), and is equivalent to a Head of Primary role, with responsibility for standards, staff leadership, and the ongoing development of high-quality teaching and learning and pastoral care within a Catholic school context. We are seeking to appoint a committed Catholic leader as Vice Principal of Primary with deep knowledge and understanding of child pedagogy and wide experience in leading teams of primary teachers. The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively managing the primary school (Nursery to Year 6). The Vice Principal of Primary will be a practising Catholic committed to Christ-centred values and beliefs, who will lead and model the Catholic ethos of the school through vision, relationships, and daily practice, ensuring faith and learning are fully integrated to all areas of the school. He/she will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic professional with excellent communication skills who will take a leading and pivotal role in the smooth operation and on-going development of the primary school. He/she will be expected to work closely with and support the Pastor, Principal and other primary and secondary senior leaders and staff in the short and long-term improvement of both the Primary and whole school, strengthening the school’s identity and values, and ensuring that both academic excellence and faith-driven principles are at the heart of its success. This will include building upon the current strengths of the school and leading those areas for development that were identified in the last inspection report to align with and achieve the school’s vision for on-going excellence. Qualifications and Experience: Leadership and management qualifications and/or relevant advanced degree qualifications with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in primary education, with 10+ years in a primary senior leadership role within a catholic school. PGCE, QTS, or other internationally recognised teaching qualification. Proven experience in leading Catholic ethos in a catholic school, school improvement and developing other leaders Familiarity and experience with teaching the UK National Curriculum and working/liaising with Years N to 6 in curriculum development. A secure knowledge and understanding of current trends in education. Up-to-date knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection practices. Key Leadership Priorities and Responsibilities in Primary: Lead the strategic direction and daily operation of the EYFS/ Primary School. Oversee and embed the Catholic ethos aligned with the mission of the school. Drive school improvement following the outcomes and recommendations of the last inspection and in readiness for future inspections. Ensure excellence in teaching, learning, pastoral care and curriculum delivery (UK National Curriculum). Lead, develop, support and work in partnership with senior leaders, and develop and reinforce a culture and expectation of accountability and growth among all staff. Oversee quality assurance and other processes aimed at improving students’ academic progress and achievement. Liaise with the teachers/professionals in developing excellent teaching and learning, including for students with additional learning needs. Foster an inclusive Primary environment, supporting all learners. Ensure effective systems and compliance with statutory and diocesan requirements for safeguarding and child protection. Oversee efficient operational practices that support learning and staff effectiveness. Lead the recruitment, retention, performance management and professional development of high-quality staff, including developing the leadership capacity of leaders and responsibility holders. Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary ranging from CI$76,500 - CI$90,500 per annum, tax-free, based on experience and qualifications. Generous medical, dental, and vision insurance. Statutory pension contributions. Relocation allowance and end of final contract repatriation allowance. Up to two free school places for an employee's child. Contracts are for two years initially and may be extended annually by mutual agreement.
