As our Visa, Relocation and Global Mobility Specialist, you will be the University's subject matter expert on immigration and mobility. You will advise hiring managers, faculty leadership and candidates on visa options and eligibility, manage the end-to-end visa lifecycle for international academics and researchers, and coordinate relocation arrangements that help new starters and their families settle in quickly. You will also safeguard the University's compliance position, maintaining sponsorship records, monitoring visa expiries and keeping us audit-ready.

Sitting within the Talent Acquisition team in Human Resources, this is a rare specialist role in a complex, highly regulated environment where your advice has visible impact on individual careers, on research programs, and on Macquarie's ability to attract the best talent globally. About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Talent Acquisition, you will provide specialist, high-level guidance, information, compliance oversight and reporting on immigration and relocation matters to internal stakeholders, current staff, prospective staff and international visitors.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing expert advice to hiring managers and University leaders on visa and immigration regulations, compliance and reporting
• Assessing visa eligibility, explaining visa subclasses (including 407, 408, 482 and 186) and outlining step-by-step processes for existing staff, prospective employees and visiting academics
• Managing the visa lifecycle for distinguished researchers and postdoctoral fellows, including employer nomination processing and correspondence with government departments
• Applying and upholding the University's immigration policies and procedures, mitigating risk across all cases and escalating any breaches
• Maintaining mandatory sponsorship records, tracking visa expiry dates and work right compliance and ensuring readiness for federal immigration audits
• Acting as the primary contact point between the University, external legal counsel and government departments, and liaising with external agencies to resolve issues as they arise
• Coordinating international and domestic relocation benefits, housing resources and onboarding logistics for incoming staff and their families
• Delivering information sessions and training to HR colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation on immigration changes, compliance, visa sponsorship and policy adherence

Our HR Business Partnering teams and Centres of Expertise span Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Remuneration, and Capability, Culture and Inclusion, with HR Shared Services and HR Applications underpinning the portfolio.

About You (Selection Criteria)

You are an immigration and mobility specialist who reads legislation closely, keeps meticulous records and explains complex requirements in plain language. You navigate large organisations with ease, handle sensitive personal information with discretion, and find practical solutions when a case does not fit the standard pathway.

• Qualifications in HR, business, law or a related discipline and/or substantial relevant experience; OMARA registration desirable
• Demonstrated experience in immigration consulting, corporate mobility or global relocation, ideally within a university, large public sector institution or comparable regulated environment
• Detailed knowledge of Australian immigration legislation and visa processes, including visa subclasses 407, 408, 482 and 186, academic exemptions and pathways relevant to research and higher education
• Proven expertise in employer-sponsored visas, nomination processing and immigration compliance, with the capability to interpret and apply migration legislation autonomously within a complex organisational context
• High-level stakeholder engagement skills, including liaison with government agencies, external legal counsel and senior University stakeholders, along with discretion in handling personal data
• Well-developed case management skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the capacity to organise multiple priorities within tight timelines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience delivering information sessions or training on compliance-related matters
