Tamworth Hospital is seeking a dedicated Wardsperson to join our highly skilled and supportive Wardsperson Operations Team. This is an opportunity to play an important role in supporting the safety, wellbeing and smooth operation of our hospital environment for patients, visitors and staff.

About The Role

As a Wardsperson, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, secure and well-functioning patient care environment at Tamworth Hospital.

Working as part of the Wardsperson Operations Team, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the safe and efficient operation of the patient care environment.
  • Undertaking proactive wardsperson practices to identify and address potential risks.
  • Responding promptly and appropriately to incidents, emergencies and operational requirements.
  • Supporting fire safety and security operations across the hospital.
  • Assisting patients, visitors and staff in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Following NSW Health policies, procedures and safety requirements.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues while also demonstrating the ability to work independently.
  • Contributing to operational excellence and a positive healthcare environment.

The position works within the Fire Safety, Security Operations and Wardsperson function and reports to the Wardsperson Manager.

Essential Criteria

  • Current NSW Drivers' Licence and willing to travel for work purposes

Skills And Training

Experience or qualifications in the following areas will be highly regarded:

  • Fire Safety
  • Manual Handling
  • Security Operations
  • Leading Hand or Supervisory roles

Where appropriate, opportunities may be available to develop these skills through training and on-the-job experience.

You won't be expected to do it alone.

The successful candidate will receive ongoing training, guidance and supervision from a Senior Operational Trainer, supporting you to build your skills, confidence and knowledge in the role. This position also provides opportunities to develop your career, with pathways into other health sectors and operational roles available as your skills and experience grow.
