JOB SUMMARY:
The Warehouse CFE & Shipping Manager oversees warehouse operations, inventory control, and the inbound flow of Customer Furnished Equipment (CFE) supporting solar skid and modular building production. This role serves as the primary MXS contact for customers regarding their entrusted inventory and coordinates shipping and receiving activities. The manager ensures accurate inventory records, timely material receipt, efficient storage and distribution, and alignment with production schedules. The position also manages outbound shipments of welded frames, completed skids, and buildings.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage daily warehouse activities, including material storage, picking, staging, and distribution to production lines.
- Serve as the primary warehouse point of contact for customers regarding Customer Furnished Equipment (CFE), including inventory status, inbound shipments, discrepancies, shortages, and damaged materials.
- Collaborate with customers to align inbound CFE inventory availability and timing with build schedules.
- Optimize warehouse layout to support efficient material flow for modular construction processes.
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe warehouse conditions (5S standards).
- Oversee cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure high inventory accuracy.
- Supervise shipping and receiving operations including unloading, inspection, verification, and system entry of goods.
- Coordinate with customers on inbound CFE shipments, resolving discrepancies, shortages, and damage issues to support production requirements.
- Establish and maintain efficient dock scheduling and shipping and receiving processes while coordinating shared dock space.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and accountability for all CFE/customer-owned materials entrusted to MXS.
- Implement and enforce inventory control procedures to ensure materials are properly issued, transferred, and tracked within the warehouse.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to production lines to prevent delays.
- Coordinate staging of materials for modular unit assembly.
- Partner with production supervisors to anticipate material needs and resolve shortages quickly.
- Supervise, train, and develop warehouse and shipping/receiving personnel.
- Assign workloads, establish performance expectations, monitor results, and hold team members accountable for meeting warehouse standards.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and address hazards promptly.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of materials, including large structural components.
- Identify and implement lean and continuous improvement opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline material handling.
- Use the Sage ERP/WMS to maintain inventory visibility, transaction accuracy, and operational reporting.
- Establish and enforce standard work across warehouse processes to drive consistency and scalability.
- Establish and monitor standards for shipping and receiving accuracy and turnaround time to support production schedules.
- Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for inventory discrepancies and material variances.
- Provide visible, hands-on leadership by setting clear expectations, coaching employees, and addressing performance issues promptly.
- Maintain accountability for safety performance and incident reduction within the warehouse.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Work Experience:
- 5+ years of warehouse/inventory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience.
- Experience in modular construction, building materials, or similar industry preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of inventory control principles and warehouse operations.
- Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems.
- Ability to read production schedules and material requirements.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Forklift certification; or ability to obtain.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
