XXX We are a small studio, hyper-focused on only one thing; creating a masterpiece. We are exploring a well-known IP and pushing the limits of perfection. Apply here! At Bespoke Pixel, we're all about creating something extraordinary. We’re a small, fully funded, independent studio working on a well-known IP, and we’re pushing boundaries when it comes to gameplay and quality. Our experienced team is a blend of creativity and technical brilliance—and now, we’re looking for a senior gameplay programmer to join the team and help shape our world. The role and your impact We are looking for a Senior Gameplay Programmer who can turn strong ideas into responsive, robust and memorable player experiences in Unreal Engine 5. You will work at the point where design intent meets technical reality: prototyping quickly, finding the fun, and then building systems that can survive production. This is a senior individual contributor role with real ownership. We will look to you for sound technical judgment, constructive challenge and calm problem solving. Because we are a small team in the startup phase, the role will not fit neatly inside one box. You should enjoy wearing more than one hat, making progress through ambiguity and stepping into the problems that matter most to the game. What you will do Build gameplay: Design, implement and iterate on player facing features and gameplay systems in UE5 Find the fun: Partner with design to prototype ideas quickly, test them in game and turn promising experiments into polished, production ready features. Own features end to end: Take responsibility from early technical design through implementation, debugging, optimization and final player experience. Connect disciplines: Work closely with design, animation, art and audio to translate creative goals into practical, elegant solutions. Raise the technical bar: Write clear, maintainable code; contribute to architecture and code reviews; and improve patterns that help the team move faster without creating tomorrow's problems. Protect performance and quality: Profile, debug and optimize gameplay across our target platforms, keeping responsiveness, stability and player experience at the centre of technical decisions. Share your experience: Support other programmers through thoughtful feedback, knowledge sharing and hands on collaboration. Seniority here means making the people and the game around you stronger. What we are looking for We care more about what you have built and the judgment you bring than a precise number of years. Your profile will probably include: Professional experience developing gameplay systems for PC or console games, including at least one shipped title. Strong programming skills and practical experience working with Unreal Engine, ideally Unreal Engine 5. Proven track record of taking complex gameplay features from prototype to polished, maintainable implementation. A solid understanding of software architecture, debugging, profiling, optimization and the realities of shipping games. The ability to collaborate closely with designers and other disciplines, communicate tradeoffs clearly and stay open to iteration. A senior mindset: proactive, pragmatic and comfortable making decisions while knowing when to ask, challenge or change direction. A genuine interest in how controls, feedback, systems and moment to moment interactions shape the player's experience. Why join us? The Bespoke Pixel advantage This isn't a role where you’ll be a cog in a machine. This is an opportunity to be a key decision-maker in a small, tight-knit team where your impact is visible and valued every day. We believe that great work is done by happy people. Competitive Salary: We offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with your expertise and the market. Work-Life Balance: Enjoy 5 weeks of paid vacation. We believe in building a healthy, sustainable studio culture. Relocation & Barcelona Life: Our beautiful office is located in central Barcelona, complete with a rooftop terrace and a fantastic community. We are ready to help with relocation for the right candidate. Comprehensive Benefits: We provide free private health insurance, a €200 monthly stipend for meals and transportation, and a yearly allowance for professional development. Team & Culture: We are a team of talented people who love what they do and support each other. You can look forward to regular team events and after-work hangouts. Ready to apply? Apply in English and in the personal letter we would like you to tell us which gameplay feature or system you are most proud of, what you personally contributed, and why it worked for the player. Links to shipped work, code samples or a portfolio are welcome where available. We review applications continuously and encourage you to apply sooner rather than later. We aim to respond within a few weeks and let you know how we would like to proceed. Bespoke Pixel is an equal opportunity employer. Everyone is welcome. Let’s build something amazing together!
