We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to play a key role in designing, building and maintaining enterprise-scale data solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a complex environment, collaborating with business and technical stakeholders to deliver modern data platforms, data warehouses, data lakes and streaming solutions.

This is a 12 month contract with potential extensions up to 24 additional months.

The Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and expertise across the full data lifecycle. You will design and develop scalable data solutions, support data-driven decision making and contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and shape data and analytics solutions
• Design, develop and maintain enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, streaming platforms and software solutions
• Build, maintain and support high quality code, technical designs and development solutions
• Perform complex data extraction, transformation, analysis, querying and troubleshooting
• Develop and support ETL/ELT pipelines across batch and near real-time environments
• Apply engineering standards, security controls and best practices to ensure solution reliability and performance
• Provide technical guidance, documentation and production support across the solution lifecycle
  
  

Skills & Experience

To be successful, you will have demonstrated experience in:

• Data engineering within complex enterprise environments
• Data warehouse, data lake and streaming platform development
• Data modelling, data analysis and data profiling
• API integration, data replication, data acquisition and reconciliation
• ETL/ELT development using batch and near real-time processing
• Data quality, validation and data governance practices
• Stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering
• Building scalable and secure data platforms
  
  

Technical Skills

Strong experience with some or all of the following:

• Teradata
• Cloudera Data Platform
• Red Hat OpenShift
• Python
• SQL
• Apache Spark
• Java
• Apache NiFi
• Hadoop
• Git source control
• CI/CD and DevOps pipelines
• Automated testing and secure coding practices
  
  

Desired Background

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering or related discipline
• 3+ years' experience delivering enterprise data solutions
• Experience working within large and complex ICT environments
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capability
  
  

Security Clearance

Candidates must be Australian Citizens and hold a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance.

Working Arrangements

The successful contractor will be required to work onsite for the first six weeks. Following this period, hybrid working arrangements may be available subject to operational requirements.
