JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Manager, Business & Systems Analysis Chapter, the Business & Systems Consultant bridges business and technology to shape initiatives from pre-discovery through delivery. Drawing on deep knowledge of business concepts, technology, and operations, you will engage business sponsors, uncover root problems, clarify objectives, and guide solution decisions—even when information is limited and the path forward is ambiguous. You will combine analytical judgement, creative thinking, stakeholder leadership, and effective use of AI to translate business needs into actionable requirements and recommendations that improve productivity, reduce costs, and support client-focused digital innovation.
What will a successful candidate do?
- Lead pre-discovery and problem-framing with business sponsors to clarify needs, objectives, root causes, capabilities, and roadmaps—even when information is limited.
- Lead Lean UX sessions and discovery workshops; assess current and future states, identify gaps, gather requirements, and align scope and work plans.
- Assess change impacts on systems, processes, procedures, and clients; manage risks, issues, and cross-team dependencies, resolving or escalating concerns.
- Create and maintain requirements, epics, user stories, data mappings, and project artifacts; prepare or review business and technical documents, communications, and user guidance.
- Support business on the roll-out of what has been developed with a focus on end-to-end validation.
- Manage business and technology stakeholders, including AVP-level leaders and above; present findings and recommendations to support executive decisions.
- Lead cross-team solution, technical, and feasibility discussions; identify required technology teams and submit technical intake requests.
- Coordinate cross-functional planning, cost gathering, estimates, and timelines.
- Compare solution options, costs, feasibility, and trade-offs, and recommend a suitable approach.
What a successful candidate needs to succeed?
- Knowledge of business and technology platforms, or ability to learn digital products; experience with client-facing technologies and legacy-to-modern system transformations.
- Familiarity with financial services; customer-facing operations experience and bilingualism are assets. Modern Web, Data Engineering, and Digital skillsets are preferred assets.
- Strong understanding of privacy, compliance, controls, and security; skills in test execution and interpreting results.
- Clear communication and executive presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts, align decisions, and collaborate in a matrixed team.
- Experience with data and integration modelling, business case development, and modelling.
- Creative problem-solving in ambiguous, changing environments; ability to uncover root causes with limited information, prioritize work, and manage time effectively.
- Ability to lead Lean UX sessions and discovery workshops, frame problems, align scope, and develop actionable work plans; proficiency using AI for exploration, analysis, and documentation.
- Experience leading solution and feasibility discussions, navigating technical intake, coordinating estimates, and comparing options and costs.
- Experience managing risks, issues, and dependencies, conducting change impact analysis, and developing leadership recommendations.
