Tokyo Advisory is a bilingual Japan–US cross-border tax and advisory firm based in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo, founded and led by a Japanese CPA / USCPA. We serve foreign executives, expatriates, and international businesses in Japan, and we are expanding our network of qualified professional advisors who can work in both Japanese and English.

This is a flexible, contract-based advisor role. You can work remotely and choose engagements that fit your expertise and schedule — ideal for professionals balancing practice with family or other commitments, or those looking to build a global client base.

Responsibilities

• Advise international clients on Japanese and/or US tax, accounting, and legal matters within your area of qualification

• Prepare or review tax returns and filings (e.g., Japanese income tax, consumption tax, inheritance/gift tax, overseas asset reports, US 1040/1040-NR, corporate filings)

• Support corporate formation (GK/KK), bookkeeping, and compliance for foreign-owned companies

• Communicate with clients in English and Japanese, explaining Japanese rules clearly to non-Japanese speakers

• Collaborate with the Tokyo Advisory team on cross-border engagements

Qualifications

• A professional qualification such as Japanese CPA, Certified Public Tax Accountant (税理士), USCPA, EA, Judicial Scrivener (司法書士), Administrative Scrivener (行政書士), Social Insurance and Labor Consultant (社労士), or attorney

• Business-level Japanese and English (written and spoken)

• Experience serving international or cross-border clients is a plus

• Additional languages (Chinese, Spanish, German, etc.) are welcome
