About Beijing Jinqian Consulting

Beijing Jinqian Consulting is an international management consulting firm. We collaborate across the private, public, and social sectors, bringing deep functional and industry expertise combined with broad geopolitical insight. Our mission is to help our clients tackle their most pressing challenges—those that truly matter on a global scale.

We work shoulder-to-shoulder with our clients, just as we do with our team. By strengthening leadership and capabilities at every level, we foster internal alignment, uncover real issues, and craft practical, lasting solutions. Our approach empowers clients to take ownership of the process and drive sustainable progress.

Position Overview

We are expanding our expert network and are actively seeking a senior Government Relations Advisor with deep expertise in Austrian economic and foreign policy affairs.

Candidates preferably have relevant work or advisory experience with the current Austrian Federal Government (the ÖVP-SPÖ-NEOS coalition led by Chancellor Christian Stocker), along with a good understanding of and relevant connections to Austria’s core economic and diplomatic institutions.

This is a flexible, project-based, remote role designed for individuals who have held senior positions in relevant government or policy fields, or who possess related advisory experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic counsel on Austrian economic policy, trade policy, industrial strategy, international sanctions, and foreign economic relations, with particular focus on the policy direction and priorities of the current government
  • Draw on knowledge of the Austrian Federal Government and related institutions to deliver timely information and support for clients
  • Conduct rapid, high-level analysis of legislative and regulatory developments under the current administration affecting business, investment, trade, and international relations
  • Support clients on Austria–EU economic coordination, Central European positioning, bilateral economic diplomacy, and Austria’s evolving role in regional and global forums (including its non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council from 2027)
  • Collaborate with Beijing Jinqian Consulting’s global experts on cross-border economic and geopolitical projects involving Austria

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of senior-level experience in government relations, public affairs, economic diplomacy, or policy consulting, with a clear focus on Austria’s economic and foreign-policy ecosystem
  • Relevant experience working with or advising the current Austrian Federal Government or related policy teams
  • Deep understanding of Austria’s economic legislative process, Austria–EU negotiations, trade policy, export-credit mechanisms, international sanctions, and the current government’s policy priorities
  • Outstanding analytical and communication skills in German and English (full professional proficiency required); additional languages a plus
  • Ability to deliver concise, decision-ready insights under tight deadlines in a fully remote environment
