As an Engineer I at Freese and Nichols, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers, get regular feedback, and have mentors and teammates you can turn to as you build your skills on real projects that shape how communities move, grow and manage water and transportation. With their guidance, you will build your technical skills, see your work in the field, and work towards your EIT/EI and PE. We have some great opportunities for December 2026, May 2027, and August 2027 new grads to launch their careers! Depending on your interests and location, you could work in Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, and Mechanical areas. Our Facilities teams power our infrastructure projects , keeping critical facilities and transportation systems safe, reliable, and moving forward. Structural - Provide end-to-end analysis, design, and construction administration for buildings, bridges, dams, and water projects, delivering high-quality plans, specifications, and technical reports. Electrical - Design primary power distribution and emergency backup systems to keep clean water flowing. This includes vital safety studies, facility lighting, alarm networks, and advanced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) to automate and monitor operations. Mechanical – Engineer high-performance HVAC and mechanical systems for a wide range of buildings, with deep expertise in warehouse and industrial design. Our opportunities are available in several locations in Texas, New Orleans, Tampa, and Raleigh. When you apply, you will be able to choose your preferred location(s) and practice area(s). What you will do – · Develop design plans, support hydraulic calculations and drainage studies, analyze data, build models, and help prepare technical reports and construction documents · Build and review models using industry-standard engineering software · Work with experienced engineers who will explain the “why”, not just give you a task · Visit project sites and see how designs move from plans to reality · Gradually take ownership of portions of real project deliverables What we will do for you – We're all about flexibility , growth , and community here. We will help you obtain your EIT/EI and PE with a test prep platform, paid day off for test days, and bonuses for passing the exams. You will receive training in engineering software, technical communication, project delivery and professional skills, with opportunities to learn from engineers across the firm.
