Company: Proxima Studio (Creators of Suck Up!)
Location: Remote / Flexible
Role Type: Full-Time Contract or Permanent
About Us
We are the indie team behind Suck Up!, where we turned goofy social deduction and conversational AI into pure comedic chaos (with over 200m views on YouTube). Now, we are building our next title: a management simulation that sits between the sandbox of The Sims and the chaotic comedy of Schedule 1.
We operate small, fast, and scrappy. We value creative ownership, rapid prototyping, and people who can establish a cohesive, signature visual language from the ground up.
The Role
We are seeking a 3D Artist & Animator who’s a cartoonist at heart: Someone who can create, build and animate expressive, lovable, degenerate characters, and imbue these characters and the broader game with a signature art style.
In this role, you will help establish the visual anchor for our next title. You will bridge high-level artistic vision with hands-on 3D asset creation and direct Unity integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Character Pipeline & Modeling: Design and build low-poly, stylized characters with bold silhouette design, strong comedic expression, and immediate visual readability.
- Rigging and Animations: Support on rigging and animations of characters; including assistance on procedural animations
- Engine Integration: Import, configure, and optimize art assets directly inside Unity
- Visual Direction & World Aesthetic: Establish the overall art style, palettes, guidelines, and comedic visual language for the entire game, ensuring characters and world feel unified
What We Are Looking For
Art Style
- Cartoonist's Sense of Comedy: A deep understanding of visual storytelling, pose clarity, and physical comedy (function and expression over photorealism)
Technical Competencies
- Complete 3D Pipeline: End-to-end expertise in stylized modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation (Blender or equivalent).
- Unity Proficiency: Experience setting up character prefabs, rigs, animation states in Unity
- Rigging and Animation Experience: Rigging, rig manipulation, animation blending
- Bonus: Experience with procedural animation (procedural targeting, IK, etc.) and Unity C# scripting to hook up animations independently.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume along with a link to your Portfolio.
Portfolio Guidance:
Artifacts that showcase your creativity and technical competency (images or videos). They could include:
- Stylized/low-poly character models demonstrating strong silhouettes and unique personal style
- Animation clips highlighting comedic timing, physical comedy, and acting beats
- 2D concepts of characters and environments, including doodles
- 3D scenes
