Show job description
The 3D Retail Design Lead will provide Malaysia-based design leadership for the client’s Malaysia workstream, supporting the immediate client resource requirement and increasing creative capacity across catalogue, retail design, POSM, sample approval and design update workstreams.

The role will work within the client’s APAC creative structure, partnering with creative, project-management and client-service stakeholders to review briefs, advise feasibility and timelines, and deliver high-quality creative outputs aligned to the client’s brand expectations and local market needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support day-to-day creative delivery for the client’s Malaysia workstream, with design approvals continuing through the APAC Creative Director until the team is fully up to speed.
  • Support the catalogue workstream, sample approvals, design updates and related retail / POSM design requirements for the client.
  • Translate business and shopper briefs into practical creative direction, design routes and production-ready design guidance across retail activation, POSM, premiums, GWP and branded merchandise workstreams.
  • Deliver and oversee creative outputs across core APAC design capabilities, including basic concept design, visual design, POS adaptation design, basic packaging visualization and branded merchandise design.
  • Review incoming briefs with project-management and client-service partners, advising on feasibility, lead times, dependencies and creative requirements before work begins.
  • Help manage high-volume and fast-turnaround creative demand, escalating capacity risks early and supporting the team in prioritizing urgent briefs.
  • Maintain consistency with the client’s brand governance while ensuring outputs remain relevant for the Malaysia market and wider APAC ways of working.
  • Collaborate with APAC creative, project management and client stakeholders to ensure smooth handover of working files, design rationale and next-step actions.
  • Support continuous improvement of the client’s creative workflow by identifying bottlenecks, recurring brief requirements and opportunities to standardize outputs.
  • Work collaboratively and mentor other designers that form part of the workstream.

Scope of Work
  • Premiums Design and GWP designs.
  • Campaign and shopper briefs, including shopper / channel strategy and POSM design support.
  • POS adaptation design, visual design and basic concept design.
  • Basic packaging visualization and branded merchandise design.
  • Catalogue workstream support, sample approval support and design update requests.
  • Brief review, feasibility input, creative timeline input and coordination with APAC stakeholders.
  • Other creative requests such as deck design and video-production-related requests, subject to scope, timeline and cost review.

Desired Experience and Capabilities

  • Strong retail design, shopper marketing, POSM or brand activation experience, ideally across consumer facing environments and multi-market / regional clients.
  • Ability to translate brand identity and campaign requirements into practical retail environments, pop-up activations, POSM and branded merchandise solutions.
  • Experience managing end-to-end design development from concept through to working files, sample review and implementation guidance.
  • Strong creative judgment with the ability to balance brand consistency, aesthetics, commercial feasibility and production practicality.
  • Comfort working with cross-functional stakeholders including creative directors, project managers, client service teams, suppliers and market teams.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment with changing priorities, short turnaround requirements and multiple parallel briefs.
  • Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain design decisions, feasibility constraints, timelines and next steps to stakeholders.
  • Fluency in industry-standard design tools — Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D design/visualisation software (e.g. Rhino, KeyShot, Cinema 4D, or equivalent).
  • Solid grasp of materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes across glass, ceramic, metal, plastic, and textile production.
  • Experience working with global FMCG or beverage brands, and comfort operating within strict brand guideline systems.
  • Sensitivity to the Malaysian market — cultural, regulatory, and commercial context around beverage marketing.
