Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Site Auditor with experience in commercial HVAC and electrical control systems to conduct field evaluations and uncover opportunities to improve building performance. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on HVAC controls knowledge and a solutions-oriented mindset, capable of identifying system inefficiencies, upgrade needs, and retrofit opportunities that can be converted into sales or service proposals. The auditor will play a critical role in bridging technical field data with actionable business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

· Conduct on-site evaluations of existing HVAC and control systems in commercial buildings to assess performance, equipment condition, and system integration.

· Identify inefficiencies, outdated technologies, or operational gaps that present opportunities for upgrades, retrofits, or service agreements.

· Document site conditions with photos, system inventories, control architecture diagrams, and performance notes.

· Collaborate with sales and service teams to translate findings into scopes of work and proposal content.

· Provide high-level energy improvement recommendations such as modernizing control systems, adding VFDs, reprogramming sequences, or improving zoning and scheduling.

· Review BAS/BMS data and trends where accessible to support energy analysis and ROI justification.

· Attend customer meetings to support technical discussions and help present findings.

· Maintain a detailed record of audited sites, opportunities identified, and status of associated proposals or follow-ups.

· Stay up to date on new technologies and energy-efficient solutions in the HVAC and controls space.

Qualifications:

· 3–5+ years of experience in HVAC controls, field service, energy auditing, or a related technical sales support role.

· Solid understanding of commercial HVAC systems (e.g., VAV, VRF, hydronic, packaged units) and BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium, Distech, Siemens, Johnson Controls).

· Familiarity with energy conservation measures (ECMs), HVAC efficiency principles, and utility rebate programs.

· Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Ability to read and interpret control drawings, sequences of operation, and mechanical plans.

· Experience using mobile inspection tools, report templates, and sales tracking systems (e.g., CRM).

· Comfortable conducting field walkthroughs independently and documenting conditions clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Technical degree or certification in HVAC, controls, energy management, or mechanical systems.

· Experience in a pre-sales, estimating, or performance contracting environment is a strong plus.

· Knowledge of utility rebate/incentive programs, ASHRAE guidelines, or LEED fundamentals.

· OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
