Role Description The Accessibility Tester role is a remote position focused on evaluating and improving the accessibility of web and mobile applications across Guru Technolabs’ diverse software products. In this role, the tester reviews interfaces against established accessibility standards and guidelines (such as WCAG) to identify barriers for users with different abilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing manual and automated accessibility tests, documenting defects and usability issues, collaborating with designers and developers to clarify requirements, and verifying fixes in subsequent releases. The role also involves preparing clear test reports, contributing to accessibility best practices, and participating in reviews to ensure inclusive design is incorporated throughout the development lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines (e.g., WCAG, ARIA, Section 508) and familiarity with inclusive design principles.
- Experience using accessibility testing tools and assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, contrast analyzers, and browser plugins.
- Understanding of web and mobile technologies (HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript behavior, and common UI patterns) to accurately assess accessibility impacts.
- Ability to design and execute test cases, document issues clearly, and work within structured QA processes and issue tracking systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort working remotely, managing time independently, and collaborating with distributed product, design, and engineering teams.
- Prior experience in software testing, UX, or accessibility auditing is beneficial; relevant certifications in accessibility or QA are a plus.
