About BGIS
BGIS is a global provider of integrated facilities management, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions to clients across various industries. We pride ourselves on our collaborative and inclusive culture, and on maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and service.
Purpose of the Role
BGIS is seeking an experienced Account Director to oversee a large-scale social housing maintenance contract across New South Wales. Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll be the senior BGIS representative on the account, responsible for contractual obligations, financial performance and the client relationship.
This is a high-profile appointment that calls for sound commercial judgement, operational experience and the ability to build trusted client relationships. You'll guide a substantial team, supporting performance, accountability and effective delivery while keeping a clear focus on client outcomes and business results. Your approach will be visible and accessible: you'll set clear expectations, help people perform at their best, and create an environment where issues are raised early and resolved constructively.
The ideal candidate is an approachable and collaborative senior professional who brings commercial depth, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to innovation and continuous improvement. You'll be comfortable balancing competing priorities, working within a strict KPI framework, and engaging with stakeholders at every level.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee delivery of all contractual obligations, making sure services meet KPIs and client expectations.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with client representatives, including regular formal reviews of contract performance.
- Take accountability for the contract P&L, including budgets, cost control and margin improvement.
- Monitor and review contract performance and prepare clear performance reports.
- Represent BGIS at client meetings, governance forums and stakeholder engagements.
- Identify and reduce commercial and operational risk for BGIS and the client.
- Oversee subcontractor performance and negotiations.
- Support, coach and develop the contract team, including recruitment, performance reviews and succession planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and grow the client relationship over time.
- Champion safety, quality and compliance across all aspects of the contract.
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Proven experience overseeing the delivery of large, complex service contracts.
- Experience managing building, construction or maintenance subcontractors.
- Significant people management experience, including supporting and developing large teams.
- Strong contract management and contract interpretation skills, with an understanding of legislative obligations.
- Sound financial management capability, including budgeting, P&L management and business planning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and negotiation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret data to inform decisions.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Highly developed computer literacy.
Desirable:
- Qualifications in contract law.
- Qualifications in building and construction management or business administration (MBA highly regarded).
- Experience within social housing, government or other KPI-driven maintenance contracts.
Workplace Flexibility
This position is based in our Sydney CBD office, close to public transport and local amenities. Following probation, you'll enjoy a hybrid arrangement of four days in the office and one day working from home.
