Show job description
The Account Director is the senior day-to-day lead for Identity’s BIST specialist events account. You will oversee a mix of business events, tradeshows and ministerial activity, including short-notice commissions, and keep delivery consistent from one project to the next.
You will turn BIST priorities into clear delivery plans, keep the account well run and commercially sound, and look for practical ways to grow the relationship. BIST is your main focus. When the account has capacity, you will also support other client accounts and new business across Identity.
  • Act as BIST’s main day-to-day contact, building relationships across teams, overseas posts and stakeholders.
  • Agree objectives, scope, timelines and budget at the start of each commission.
  • Escalate risks and issues promptly, respecting BIST’s ownership of ministerial, policy and security decisions.
  • Manage the account event schedule, status reporting and short-notice requests.
  • Oversee project delivery with Event Directors, keeping work on brief, on time and on budget.
  • Make sure BIST brand, data-handling and compliance requirements are built into delivery.
  • Manage forecasting, budgets, invoicing, change control and contract reporting with Commercial and Finance.
  • Grow the account through a clear development plan, renewals and proposals.
  • Lead and coach the core account team, coordinating colleagues across the agency.
  • Support other accounts, pitches and new business when BIST commitments allow.

  • Embrace and champion Identity’s values and behaviours.
  • All other duties appropriate to the role.
  • Experience leading a client account or programme of events within an agency, events or professional services environment.
  • Experience working with public sector or high-profile stakeholders, with good judgement around governance, approvals and reputational risk.
  • Oversight of multiple concurrent projects, ideally including international, ministerial, VIP, tradeshow or business events.
  • Sound commercial experience, including forecasting, budget control and change management.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, adapted for senior clients, project teams and suppliers.
  • Strong organisation, with calm, practical decision-making when requirements change.
  • Collaborative leadership, with the confidence to challenge constructively.
  • BIST has clear visibility of status, risks, decisions and budgets across every active commission.
  • Projects are delivered against agreed objectives, timelines, quality standards and approved budgets.
  • The account retains existing work and grows through relevant new opportunities.
