The role will provide commercial, sales and operational coordination to enable the Account Manager to focus on customer relationships, opportunity development and revenue growth.
The Account Management Coordinator will help maintain an accurate sales funnel, coordinate customer and internal actions, support bids and proposals, maintain account information and ensure opportunities are progressed effectively through the business.
The role requires someone who is highly organised, commercially minded, proactive and comfortable communicating with customers and internal stakeholders. It also provides an excellent development opportunity for an individual looking to progress into an Account Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management Support: Support the Account Manager in the day-to-day management of assigned customer accounts, ensuring agreed actions, opportunities and customer requests are progressed efficiently.
Funnel & CRM Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date sales funnel and CRM information, including opportunities, values, stages, probability, expected decision dates, customer contacts and next actions.
Opportunity Tracking: Track opportunities through the sales process, proactively highlighting overdue actions, stalled opportunities, upcoming customer decisions and information required to progress opportunities.
Forecasting Support: Support the Account Manager in preparing and maintaining sales forecasts, working with Operations and other functions to validate expected revenue, start dates and resource requirements.
Account Planning: Support the preparation, maintenance and quarterly review of account plans, including customer stakeholder maps, opportunities, strategic objectives, competitor information and agreed actions.
Customer Engagement: Develop relationships with appropriate customer contacts and act as a point of contact for routine commercial, administrative and account-related enquiries.
Customer Meetings: Coordinate customer meetings and, where appropriate, attend alongside the Account Manager. Capture actions, decisions and follow-up requirements and ensure these are progressed to completion.
Proactive Customer Contact: Make direct contact with customers where appropriate to progress actions, obtain information, arrange meetings and support opportunity development.
Bid & Proposal Coordination: Support the Account Manager with customer RFQs, RFPs, tenders and proposals, coordinating inputs from Operations, Engineering and other functions and ensuring submission requirements and deadlines are clearly understood.
Proposal Preparation: Assist in producing customer-facing proposals, presentations, capability statements and other sales collateral to the required quality and timescale.
Commercial Support: Support pricing and commercial activities by gathering relevant information, maintaining pricing records and coordinating internal approvals. The Account Manager remains accountable for final commercial decisions and authorised approvals.
Internal Coordination: Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Recruitment, Finance and other functions to ensure customer requirements and upcoming opportunities are clearly communicated and understood.
Sales Meeting Preparation: Prepare information required for weekly sales meetings, including funnel status, opportunity movements, key actions, customer activity, risks and forecast changes.
Action Management: Maintain account action trackers and proactively follow up with owners to ensure agreed activities are completed within the required timescales.
Customer Intelligence: Monitor assigned customers and relevant market sectors to identify news, organisational changes, programmes, contract awards and other developments that could create opportunities or risks.
Stakeholder Mapping: Maintain customer stakeholder maps and contact information, helping identify gaps in relationships and opportunities to broaden engagement across the customer organisation.
Marketing Support: Work with the Account Manager and Marketing function to support account-based campaigns, events and targeted customer communications.
Trade Shows & Events: Support and, where appropriate, attend industry events, exhibitions and trade shows such as the Farnborough International Airshow.
Customer Visits: Attend customer sites where appropriate, supporting the Account Manager and progressively developing independent customer relationships.
Data Quality: Ensure customer, contact, opportunity and commercial information is accurately maintained within company systems and that account records provide a clear and current view of activity.
Problem Resolution: Proactively identify issues or risks affecting customers or opportunities, escalate them appropriately and support the Account Manager in coordinating resolution.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve account management processes, reporting, CRM data quality and the overall efficiency of the sales function.
Team Support: Support other members of the Business Development team when required to help achieve overall sales and business objectives.
