Pinewood.AI is looking for an Account Manager to join our growing sales team, working with a portfolio of automotive retail customers across the UK. This is a sales-focused account management role, where your primary aim will be to build strong customer relationships while identifying and converting opportunities to grow revenue across your existing accounts.

You’ll develop a strong understanding of your customers’ businesses, their dealership operations and the challenges they face. Using that knowledge, you’ll identify where additional Pinewood.AI products, modules, AI solutions, integrations, training and services can deliver value, and turn those opportunities into commercial results.

You’ll have responsibility for account growth targets, including upselling, cross-selling, customer retention and generating additional revenue from your portfolio. This means being proactive with customers, spotting opportunities before they become obvious and confidently having commercial conversations with decision-makers.

We’re open to people coming from a range of backgrounds. You might already have experience in account management, business development or technology sales, or you could have gained your experience directly within a dealership or dealer group in a commercially focused role. What matters is that you understand automotive retail, are confident building relationships and have the drive and ability to sell.

Working closely with Product, Support, Delivery and Sales teams, you’ll play an important role in strengthening customer relationships, developing your pipeline and maximising the commercial opportunity within your accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and grow a portfolio of automotive retail customer accounts, with clear responsibility for revenue, retention and account growth targets.
  • Build strong relationships with key customer contacts and decision-makers, while maintaining a clear commercial focus across every account.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each customer’s business, dealership operations, objectives and challenges to identify opportunities for additional products and services.
  • Proactively identify, qualify and develop upsell and cross-sell opportunities across the Pinewood.AI platform, including modules, AI solutions, integrations, training and professional services.
  • Generate new revenue from existing customers by identifying unmet needs, underused functionality and opportunities to improve or expand their use of Pinewood.AI.
  • Manage the sales process from initial opportunity through to commercial agreement, working with customers and internal teams to progress opportunities and close deals.
  • Build and maintain a healthy account pipeline, prioritising opportunities based on customer need, commercial potential and likelihood to close.
  • Conduct regular customer meetings, account reviews and on-site visits, using these conversations to uncover new requirements and create commercial opportunities.
  • Support customer retention and renewal activity, ensuring customers continue to see value while identifying opportunities to increase the overall value of each account.
  • Use customer insight, platform information, performance data and knowledge of the automotive market to identify potential areas for growth.
  • Work closely with Product, Support, Delivery and Sales teams to resolve customer challenges, progress opportunities and deliver a strong overall customer experience.
  • Keep up to date with developments across automotive retail and use your industry knowledge to identify changing customer needs and potential sales opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, pipeline and activity information within Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • Contribute to Pinewood.AI’s information security strategy by protecting sensitive customer information, managing risk and following established security measures.

Requirements

  • Experience working within automotive retail, ideally with a good understanding of how dealerships and dealer groups operate.
  • Experience in a sales, account management, business development or commercially focused customer-facing role.
  • A proven ability to identify sales opportunities, build a pipeline and convert opportunities into revenue.
  • Strong understanding of dealership operations, systems and processes, with experience of Dealer Management Systems or similar automotive technology being an advantage.
  • A genuine interest in the automotive industry and an understanding of the commercial challenges facing modern automotive retailers.
  • Confident building relationships with people at different levels, including senior decision-makers.
  • Commercially driven, with experience working towards sales, revenue, retention or account growth targets.
  • Experience of upselling and cross-selling products or services to existing customers.
  • Able to understand customer needs and business challenges and translate them into commercially valuable solutions.
  • Confident leading commercial conversations, negotiating and asking for the business.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, opportunities and priorities effectively.
  • Able to use customer information, performance data and business insight to identify and prioritise sales opportunities.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with internal teams while maintaining ownership of your own sales activity and targets.
  • Experience using a CRM system such as Microsoft Dynamics would be useful.
  • Experience selling software, technology or SaaS solutions would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Desirable

  • Experience working directly within a dealership or dealer group, particularly in a sales, aftersales, parts, finance, CRM or management role.
  • Previous experience in account management, business development or sales within the automotive sector.
  • Experience selling technology, software, services or other business solutions.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of customers with responsibility for revenue growth.
  • Knowledge of the Pinewood.AI platform or comparable automotive retail technology solutions.

Why Join Us?

This is an exciting time to join Pinewood.AI as we continue to grow our Automotive Intelligence Platform across the UK and international markets.

You’ll have the opportunity to combine your knowledge of the automotive industry with your commercial and sales skills, working with established customers and helping them get more value from their relationship with Pinewood.AI.

This isn’t simply a relationship management role. You’ll have clear commercial responsibility for growing revenue across your customer portfolio, identifying opportunities, developing your pipeline and closing additional business. You’ll work with some of the UK’s leading automotive retailers, understanding their businesses and showing them how Pinewood.AI can help them improve their operations, make better decisions and achieve their goals.

Whether your experience comes from working directly in a dealership, managing automotive customers or selling technology and services, you’ll be able to build on what you already know while developing your career within a growing technology business.

You’ll be supported by colleagues across Sales, Product, Support and Delivery, but you’ll have ownership of your accounts and the commercial opportunities within them. If you enjoy building relationships but are equally motivated by targets, winning business and seeing the revenue you generate, this role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact.
