Account Manager (Fund Accounting)

We are seeking a highly motivated and client-focused Account Manager to join our Fund Accounting team in Kuala Lumpur. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of alternative investment fund clients, ensuring the delivery of high-quality fund accounting and administration services while maintaining strong client relationships. The Account Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for clients and work closely with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate fund accounting deliverables, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This role offers significant exposure to private equity, venture capital, real estate, and other alternative investment structures across multiple jurisdictions. Key Responsibilities: Client Relationship Management Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of fund clients. Build and maintain strong working relationships with fund managers, investors, auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, and other stakeholders. Conduct regular client meetings and service reviews to ensure client satisfaction and identify opportunities for service enhancement. Act as the escalation point for client queries and operational matters. Support business development initiatives through cross-selling and identification of additional service opportunities. Fund Accounting Oversight Oversee the preparation and review of: Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations Investor capital account statements Capital call and distribution notices Management fee calculations Carried interest calculations Financial statements and supporting schedules Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Review complex accounting transactions and fund-related activities. Monitor fund performance reporting and financial deliverables. Operational Management Coordinate fund onboarding, fund launches, and client transitions. Ensure all client deliverables are completed accurately and within agreed service level agreements (SLAs). Collaborate with internal teams across fund administration, corporate services, investor services, compliance, and company secretarial functions. Manage fund lifecycle events including closings, restructurings, liquidations, and investor transfers. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and procedures. Support AML/KYC, FATCA, CRS, and beneficial ownership requirements. Assist with internal and external audits. Identify, escalate, and mitigate operational and client service risks. Maintain awareness of relevant regulatory developments impacting fund administration services. Team Leadership Provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to Fund Accountants and Senior Fund Accountants. Review work performed by junior team members. Contribute to training initiatives and knowledge sharing across the team. Assist management with resource planning and workflow management. Process Improvement Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency. Participate in technology implementation and system enhancement projects. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, CIMA, or equivalent is preferred. 5-8 years of relevant experience in fund accounting, fund administration, corporate services, financial services, or asset management. Previous experience within a fund administrator, CSP, trust company, or alternative investment environment is highly desirable. Experience managing client relationships and overseeing service delivery. Exposure to private equity, venture capital, real estate, hedge funds, or other alternative investment structures preferred. Excellent verbal and written English Fluent in verbal and written Mandarin is a must. Location & Work Setup: Location: Malaysia: Menara Exchange 106, Lingkaran TRX, Tun Razak Exchange, 55188, Kuala Lumpur Work arrangement: Hybrid work arrangement with mostly days in the office Regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm)
