Account Manager / Technical Manager
Overview of Role
TSMC North America is seeking an Account Manager / Technical Manager, based in San Jose, CA, to own the technical account relationship for one of TSMC’s key global customers serving diverse sectors, including data center, networking, broadband, and industrial markets. You will serve as a primary interface between the customer’s technical and procurement organizations, driving and managing both front-end silicon technology and backend packaging programs (2.5D/3D advanced packaging). The role demands fluency in semiconductor design, processes, and advanced packaging, strong commercial acumen, and the emotional intelligence to build synergy within an established, high-workload account team while operating independently and keeping tight alignment with TSMC headquarters. You will report to the Account Management team leader and partner with senior customer and TSMC stakeholders to strengthen the partnership and deliver measurable value across cost, quality, and time-to-market. TSMC currently operates a hybrid work schedule (4 days in office).
Key Responsibilities
- Own the account relationship for the assigned strategic customer, serving as the primary TSMC technical and commercial interface and sustaining executive-level alignment.
- Manage the customer’s selected front-end silicon and advanced packaging programs — 2.5D/3D packaging — from planning through production ramp. Serve as a trusted advisor by understanding customer’s product roadmaps and positioning the appropriate TSMC technologies.
- Translate customer product requirements into actionable programs with R&D, Planning, Field Technical Support (FTS), Business Development, Operations, and Finance, and coordinate closely with TSMC headquarters in Taiwan.
- Anticipate and address customer challenges, balancing TSMC’s objectives with the customer’s product and operational priorities.
- Manage capacity and fulfillment cycles with procurement, design, and business units, ensuring consistent demand creation and supply alignment.
- Provide structured business analysis and briefings for Account Directors, VPs, and senior TSMC executives.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS/MS in Engineering, Physical Science, Business, or a related technical discipline.
- 12+ years of combined experience in account management, applications/field engineering, technical program management, or foundry/OSAT/OEM supply chain within the semiconductor industry.
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor processes, fab operations, and supply chain dynamics.
- Strong project management with the ability to synthesize complex technical and business insights into clear executive recommendations.
- High emotional intelligence and proven ability to build strong working relationships and integrate into an established, capacity-constrained, customer-facing team.
- Excellent executive communication, negotiation, and conflict‑management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to analyze and interpret financial statements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior TSMC or foundry account management / customer service experience supporting North America accounts.
- Experience in semiconductor design, device, process, product engineering, or advanced packaging.
- Experience coordinating across highly matrixed, multi-geography teams and with TSMC headquarters in Taiwan.
- Bilingual in Mandarin and English.
Travel Expectations
- Monthly travel (~10%) to customer sites within the USA.
- Annual travel to TSMC headquarters in Taiwan.
