About the Opportunity
The accountant’s tasking is twofold: firstly, he/she will support the CFO and provide accurate and timely financial reporting. The accountant will reconcile general ledger accounts, prepare working papers and financial statements as well as support the CFO’s office’s initiatives. Secondly, the accountant will also be responsible for the entire accounting cycle for JORI’s Philippines entity. Finally, the accountant will contribute to strategic planning, support the construction of budgets, forecasts and business plans as well as contribute to the improvement of accounting systems and procedures.
- Prepare accurate and timely error-free accounting working papers for all group companies.
- Prepare financial statements in compliance with the appropriate reporting framework.
- Support CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management (“CARM”) reporting and reconciliations for both government and clientele requirements.
- Philippines office: maintain and update accounting records accurately and in a timely manner. Responsible for the Philippines’ company day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting tasks, including recording transactions and organizing financial information.
- Gather and organize information and documentation required for tax and other compliance filings in Canada and in the Philippines. Identify discrepancies, missing information, or unusual transactions: report and repair any deficiencies.
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting cycles for all group companies.
- Prepare projections, forecasts, business plans, and other projects as required.
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
- Other routine accounting and bookkeeping assignments as required. Prepare ad hoc reports for management
About You
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accountancy or related field
- Must have CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
- 2 - 4 years’ experience post-CPA designation.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, etc.)
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent accuracy and attention to detail. If we need to constantly check your work, this is not the role for you.
- Familiarity with Canadian tax laws and CRA regulations is a great advantage (!).
- Maniacal organization skills – systematic electronic filing and prioritizing (sometimes conflicting) tasks.
- Excellent computer skills and adaptability to new software systems.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
