We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our accounting team to support the general accounting function in Canada. Reporting to the Controller, this position will assist the Accounting Manager and the GL Accounting Team in handling all day-to-day accounting activities.
- Responsibilities:
Maintain financial records and general ledger accounts in Oracle ERP, ensuring accounting transactions are accurately recorded and supported by appropriate documentation. - Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, reclassifications, cash transactions, and other month-end adjustments in accordance with company accounting policies.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet and general ledger accounts using trial balances and supporting records, investigate discrepancies, and prepare necessary correcting and adjusting entries.
- Maintain prepaid expense schedules, calculate monthly amortization, and prepare current and long-term reclassification entries as part of the month-end close process.
- Review open purchase orders and project-related expenditures, analyze transaction details and billing status, and prepare accrual or prepaid adjustments to ensure expenses are recorded in the appropriate accounting period.
- Manage cash and corporate AMEX card accounting activities, including reviewing transactions and supporting documentation, coding expenses to appropriate accounts and cost centers, and preparing related journal entries.
- Prepare accounting schedules and supporting reports for month-end, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting.
- Review GST/PST-related accounting records and supporting documentation to assist with tax reporting, compliance requirements, and audit requests.
- Assist with internal and external audit activities by providing accounting records, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial documentation.
- Support various general accounting activities including fixed asset accounting and OPEX cost allocation.
- Support financial review on new vendor account setup
- Support Procurement in PO generation and liaison with internal requestors and vendors
- Participate in preparation of monthly OPEX funding request
- Ad-hoc accounting, purchasing, administrative, and project tasks as assigned by Accounting Manager or Controller
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of accounting and administrative experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly motivated self-starter who can work independently and collaborate as part of a team
- University degree preferred
- Work experience in large enterprise ERP system (e.g. Oracle, SAP) is an asset
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $65,600- $80,200 annually. Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
